Small Cabin Forum / General Forum / Where do I start?

indianasolar Member	# Posted: 7 Apr 2008 21:35 Reply Since my wife won't be letting me build an off-grid house anytime soon, I have thought about maybe a small cabin in the woods. Where do I start? The first thing would be convincing her that it would be a good idea / investment / fun. So... How do I do that?

It breaks your daily routine and brings variety. It's also great if you have some related hobby to occupy your time there, like fishing, woodworking, crafts, photography, reading... or just sip wine at the campfire in the evening – great stress reliever. ;-)
swanugly Member	# Posted: 21 Jul 2008 00:48 Reply i started looking a couple of years before i accually bought . i started by looking close to home but property was way to expensive so i had to expand my search . when i started looking my gal said no way , but i kept watching the listing on the various sites on the computer . i would show her the photos in the listings , finally she said " it might be nice to have a place to go ". i kept searching and found a cheep spot but a long ways away , i bought it , came home , showed her the photos and she was hooked . we make the property our summer vacation location . the place i bought was cheep enough and it was easy to get a loan . things are changing quickly around here and these types of deals are getting harder to find . but they ares till out there. ours has gone up a bit in value so we will not loose money and i look at it as a savings account , once we can not enjoy it anymore we can sell it .
