i am gonna dig pit to dump our grey water . i am thinking of a big hole filled with gravel and rocks it will be away from lake , outhouse , cabin , and were we hope to have a well someday. we are only there part time and have no plumbing in the cabin . any suggestions , any problems with critters or bugs ?

A big hole filled with gravel and capped with some cement blocks is what I do... also known as a grease trap.
Another way, and probably better for your well is to use an evapo-transpiration recycling bed. See this document for details:
