With all this rain, the forest here is covered with mushrooms. Found two male box turtles on top of each other.

I don't know enough about turtles to tell the boys from girls. How's that done?

I guess they've heard that it's legal in all 50 states according to the Supreme Court.

LMAO Salty. The males have a very distinct concave bottom shell. Helps with mating/mounting the female.

Good to hear its not just me...I hadn't taken an interest in the mushrooms before, but after noticing so many different types, I started taking pictures to document them. So far, 35 unique mushrooms. And I know there are at least 5 other mushrooms I saw before I started taking pictures. I'm sure there are still a lot more that I haven't noticed.

I will never be able to hear that song again, without mounted box turtles coming to mind...lol..lol

SG, do you know much about mushrooms? I have tons all over the property, some different ones, but don't know much. I will start taking pics and posting and maybe someone can help with identification.

I have no plans on eating any of them just yet, until I am way more comfortable with identification and such, but for now, more out of interest as there are so many.

Those black trumpets are beautiful.....

I guess when you move as slow as they do, you can't afford to be too fussy when you finally catch up to another one. :p

She said she married me because I made her laugh. Amazingly enough, 15 years later she's still laughing.

I'm glad your in my fan club. Trust me, it's small....

There an old saying,"Stay away from the LBM's" Little brown mushrooms.
A lot of them look alike and most of them are poisonous.

I stick with the medicinal mushrooms.

Actually turtles can move at a fair clip, but perhaps they're just not as bright as you might have thought

Smawgunner. You say those are two male turtles?
Upon closer examination, it seems the one on bottom has gone into hiding... that's funny- one's frightened, the other is confused. Not to mention he looks frustrated. You can see it by the look on his face haha
Nice pics!

The mushrooms I collect regularly to make tea with to help build the immune system up are,

{Chaga} https://youtu.be/0Q2dGq6tISc

{Reishi} https://youtu.be/NccQj-uufPE

and

{Turkey Tail} https://youtu.be/WnJ5nT5SY6I

Turkey Tails have a look alike though that can make you sick.
Look at the gills, if they hang down like icicles, "teeth gills" they are not Turkey Tails.
You want the gill to be, "Polypores" like a smooth screen look.

Sweet. Thanks.
Chaga...👍

This is the second biggest chunk I've found. Haven't harvested yet, forgot my hachet.

Geesh, thats a huge Chaga. I found 3 this year so far, all about the size of a softball.
I made some double extracted tincture out of them and now have 2 mason jars full of tincture.
