It's some brutal work ,I likely lost a year or two doing this but I want to get good enough at it to pass the skill on to my sons so they will be able to build their own homes if they wish.

It will be worth all the hard work. I envy your foundation as I'm sure many here do. Wish I had a sturdy foundation like yours.

Patrick,
Whaaat??? You were sleeping in your car last weekend??? It was freezing! Well, not quite freezing but I do know we had to start up the wood stove at our place. The high Saturday was only 52.

I know you said you have a hotel for this weekend but after that come stay at our place. It is close to you and you'll have a bed! Just creek water for washing up for now, but then again, you have the lake to jump in We don't have all the comforts of home but I guarantee you will be more comfortable than you would in your truck!

If you are interested let me know and I'll give you contact info.

Have a great day!

trollbridge- What an offer thank you, but the trucks not so bad it was worse the weekend before the HOT one yuck that stunk! For me I look at it as part of the challenge and the less comfortable I am the more I am going to stay on point I would like to check your place out sometime maybe after I get further along we could do tours of each others places I know pictures never really do things justice.

Well the block work is finally dun, done, duhn at 7:30 pm finally put that baby to bed. Then started filling the cores and the bond beam it is about equally brutal so far about 1/3 is complete should be able to finish that this weekend.Hit my first deer ever coming home saw it standing in the highway I slowed down it starts running with me then cuts in front I locked up the brakes bam looked over and saw it sliding on its back down the shoulder It was not doing a very good tuck and roll in my opinion.Stopped and checked the truck a little hair only went back to check the deer and it was gone so hopefully it will be ok .

OMG...a tuck and roll...you are hilarious poor deer. glad it didn't damage your truck. Gotta watch for em, they also like to run smack into the side of ya on Wi 35! They make a big thud...it has to give em a mighty big headache.

Your foundation is looking strong and sturdy! I know you will be glad to be done but this will most likely be the worse work of all. You are going to have a very pretty view when you are all complete!

Another brutal weekend but all the concrete work is done the mixer ran all weekend I love and hate that machine had to go to menards saturday night for more concrete and to order the roof trusses to get the rebate did'nt get back till after 9 and had to unload 60 bags of concrete in lantern light to have somewhere to sleep not so fun after just getting done mixing, hauling and pouring 70 bags I barely finished one beer and I was out so hard getting up on sunday had to haul another 100 gallons of water and mix the rest of the concrete left for home at 7pm used everything up water, concrete, cement, back muscles, shoulder muscles and just as Im leaving deer jumps out in front of the truck I said yep this is going to be a long 3 hours home.

I have some and a friend of mine just brought me 3 more sections so I think that will be enough I was using some ladder scaffolding to do the little roof I just removed it for little better picture. thanks for the offer though Its nice to know there are still some decent people out there. Did you run into any of the crazy bike riders this weekend on B? holy cow they where biking at 8 am when I got there and they where still biking at 5;30 and there where some people swimming at pattison some kind of triathilon or something.Id rather lay a bunch more block than do that!

Okay. It sounds like you are set. Be safe!

The bike race they do each year up there. We didn't leave the cabin once we arrived Friday night but we had family that came from the Twin Cities Saturday morning that had to share B with them.

The swimmers at Pattison were possibly racers who were camping there. I know during Grandma's Marathon the campground is full of runners. We have been there when they have cooled off afterwards and taken a soak in the lake. I personally can't fathom how they can even move after that, but they do! LOL....I'd be belly up about to float over the falls I'm afraid!!!!

We are officially on the grid and it is awesome, making power with a generator is defenitely not for me! Put in a couple of outlets and the compressor is working but it has been damaged I brought another up just in case. The trusses arrived and I brought up about half of the roofing supplies. my brother and I are going up this week for a week to hopefully get that done, that would be sweet if we can get that at least mostly done. i also got the second roof on over the other canted area this one went pretty fast and turned out a bit better. Getting closer to keeping the rain out.

You make it look so easy. I cringed reading and looking at the pics of your basement built, as I know what it takes
You obviously know how to build and it's great you have family to help.
I don't know a lot of people in today's world who's prepared to work that hard.
Thanks for sharing.
