Quoting: Borrego
Makes me more determined to wrestle every single bit of joy out of this old life as much and as often as I can.....

a truth some never come to know
You got this

Quoting: Borrego
I always end the days tired and happy, odd combination.......

odd these days for sure
I think, back in the day, before our time, it was more common

Are there any fires near your property?

Are there any fires near your property?

We've been lucky this year
Plenty of smoke, but even that has been knocked down from the rain we had a couple days ago
It was our first rain of the season
Quite welcome to get it

The big fires near here were mostly up on the west side of Crater Lake
They have showed snow the last few days, more like blizzards, so seems we're outa the woods in regard to fires

Concentrating on cold and snow now
Evening temps are dipping into the teens
Had a purty good blow
But no harm, no foul

It’s the best, the very best to get well wishes and nice words from fellow cabineers
Back atcha'll ten fold

I still see new folks here, getting their hands dirty
Nothin’ better’n building a small cabin to learn about yerself
No sir
It don’t have to cost a fortune
It’s from yer own hands
If nuthin’ else, it’s a sometime refuge
A quiet place
Everone needs that

We just happen to live at ours

Keep a fire

Got a nice dusting last night

....and a visitor a few paces from the cabin

Mornings are always special for me out here
Something about sipping coffee while observing the evolution…

a Jacob's Ladder didn't hurt the mood

The trip to town was entertaining

Upper Klamath Lake
With the cascading cumulus surfing the hills

Truth be told, I'm not sure.
I'd like to say just a coyote, as I've seem 'em up close of late.
In any event, it's bigger'n a mouse, or rabbit.

this morning...ten degrees.
we never know out here what the temps gonna be.
i read if u have a thermometer to put it 80 feet from your house if your house is 20 feet tall.we have thermometers all over...but they dont predict.
so we go by several stations on the web.one is odot.it doesnt predict either but it gives us temps that are pretty correct.
one is a mile post 5 miles from here.i use that one alot.
it was predicted to be in the high 20's this morning but we woke up to ten degrees.
sort of frustrating.
last spring we could never tell.if i woke up at 2a.m. and checked the temp...u would see me scurrying out to our raised beds and lighting a candle inside the raised beds...so as to keep it warm in them.
also the mister has to keep the pump house warm.
we can never trust our weather channel to predict the correct temps.
so out where we are.if they say its gonna be 30 degrees.we pretty much know to minus 7-10 degrees.
lately they said it was gonna be 4 degrees.then they changed it at the last minute to 34 degrees then in the end.it turned out that morning to be 9 degrees.
grr.frustrating.
other than this.everythings very beautiful.i wish the winter would stay as it is now.
save our 10 cords of firewood n not have to chop, split and gather and stack firewood come spring.
right now its cold but very little snow on the ground.sure is pretty out.
happy holidays to all.

Regarding the visitor footprints, those look like raccoon tracks. Bobcat and mountain lions tracks usually don’t show claws.

Beautiful pics Gary. Looks like you found paradise.

I’m sticking with raccoon. I’m pretty sure cat tracks are wider than they are long. The bobcat tracks here definitely are. Bobcats and lions tend to avoid humans so I doubt they will bother you. Raccoons are pests and much tougher than they look. If they get inside something, they don’t like the smell of mothballs.

I’m sticking with raccoon.

Appreciate yer opinion, 95XL883.
I too was considering raccoon
However
its confirmed coyote

Moving along.....this one is much easier (even for me) to identify

cougar, obviously

Cabingal, if I'm making you angry, I apologize. Certainly not my intent.

As to the pictures, I was looking at them on my phone (while waiting for my friend, buck, to appear). The second one was really hard to make out on that small screen. Seeing it on a bigger screen, I can see where it isn't a raccoon. I'm wondering though, are those pics of the exact same tracks? The first looks like a raccoon, i.e., long skinny fingers and a short stride. The second does look like a coyote. (I like hunting so it is always fascinating to me to identify animals by the sign they leave. Thank you to Gary and you for posting the pictures.)

Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
