I know of several friends who have postponed driving south for the winter because of this.
One couple has a condo in the Myrtle Beach area. They are 12 miles inland from the ocean and have a 3rd floor unit.
They were required to purchase flood insurance when they bought their place.
Folks down there take this stuff very seriously.

I just spoke with my friend who has the 3rd floor unit 12 miles inland.
There's a foot of water in the parking lot adjacent to his building.
Yikes!
