Sadly the day is beautiful and I wish we were there...however, we have obligations at home. But later we are going to go on a drive to see the fall colors...I have my lame camera charging- it has been off and on uncooperative lately. It better work for me today or it's gonna find itself in the trash  Grrrrr...and I will find myself a new partner in crime!!

I share your pain. It's beautiful out there today and I'm stuck in the 'burbs cutting the lawn and removing some of the "unnatural resources" from my back yard - The neighbors will be happy!

We had a huge weekend at our cabin. As some of you know it was my grandfater's homestead. We had the Christensen relatives all sitting around the campfire. We had a picnic and walked the 120 acres. There were a lot of youngins. They were sure happy climbing deer stands and rowing the boat on the ponds. Most stayed all day until the full moon came up. A few stayed overnight. Thanks to my wife. I sure wouldn't try to pull that off. All I can do is help.

Ha ha...what kind of unnatural resources Rob_O???? That is funny!
We are heading up this coming weekend...have plans to install our wood floor and put the tin roof on our shed-if the weather cooperates. It is suppose to be rainy...kinda hard to walk around on a wet tin roof...highs around 48. Much different from this weekend!

YES!!! Got some stuff to clean up before winter hits. I need to take a load of old scrapwood to the dump, fix the cracked window, more downed trees to saw up, and a long nap in my lounge chair in the sun (maybe with a blanket). Heaven

Car parts, scrap metal, typical stuff you'd find in the back yard of a redneck male. I've accumulated enough to warrant a trip to the scrap yard so I can turn some of this trash into cash

I just checked the forecast for our cabin and they say high temp of 46 with rain/flurries!!!!! I can't believe they said the "f" word!!!!!!! Yikes!
Looks like I will be stuck at home no matter the weather because it is Homecoming and my 15 year old wants to experience all the weekend has to offer!!! Ugh...that darn school spirit! LOL! I was hoping he would be happy with the parade and football game on Friday night and then we could scootaloo out of town early Saturday morning. Silly me...should have known better by now-someone is throwing a party afterwards with a huge bon fire and....g-i-r-l-s!  Now how does he say no to that???? Then there is the dance Saturday night and 'everybody' wants him to be there! "Whose everybody?" I inquire...his reply, "You know...everybody" Okay...duh...I should have seen that coming 
Looks like Mr. Troll (George Clooney, lol) will be soloing this weekend while I work the taxi here at home! But...hold me to this...I PLEDGE I WILL LET NOTHING STOP ME FROM GOING UP NORTH THE NEXT WEEKEND, SO HELP ME GOD!!!!!

Just got back Monday night from Idaho. Was absolutely beautiful the whole week. 75 and sunny during the day, 48* and moonlit every night. Climbed up our property and watched the sunrise Sunday morning, and got to see the moonset Monday Am about 5am.
Most of the wildlife seems to have moved off the last few weeks. Saw one bull moose through the trees Saturday. Then on the way down the mountain to the airport Monday AM saw a mama and baby moose in the road. Our jeep spooked them into the woods, but we stopped to see if we could spot them, and 100 feet off the road was a large bull. I am assuming that he was trying to catch mama for a few minutes. Tis the season...
Got our deck sealed, and a few other small maintenance tasks completed. Winterized and now it will sit til Spring as I am not very optimistic about a winter trip. Kids in college, funds a bit tight, and... my wife and I are going to Jamaica in January for a week to see Gov't Mule, Warren Haynes solo, and Anders Osborne for musical bliss on the beach.

We went up last weekend. The trees weren't prime yet. So we are going again this weekend...weather permitting.
I'd like to do a little minor painting and make a fire. Other than that...no agenda!

Just came back.
Did some preparations for the winter season: took off gazebo fabric roofing, moved some outdoor furniture items under the cover or into the shed, chopped some extra wood, etc.
Then cooked in on the wood stove and had a nice dinner in the cabin while it started to rain outside.

Just came back from the cabin. It poured all all weekend. One of the first times I did very little and just relaxed. Had some company over from the other side if the state, played some board games and cards. Great time!!!

Parent/teacher conferences and grading all week, then I'm outta here just like the building is on fire. Can't wait until the hot seat is the one next to the fire and the number crunching is a sudoku puzzle.

Went up to close things up...like Cabinbuilder here in Ontario. Took out the pump (have a hand pump on drilled well) Swept out the bunkie and knowing it was going down to minus 1, started the generator to run my heater...or tried too!! no go...thank god for a winter sleeping bag and a faithful lab named Chloe...we made it through the night a warmed up by breakfast.
But you know...even a rough night at the bunkie is better than a good day at....

The season's just getting into full swing for me. This weekend is guys weekend. I belong to the Midwest Mountain Riders. A small group of snowmobilers here in MN who travel to the Rockies often to get the thrill of there life. Anyway we have a fall hunting, target shoot and fourwheeler weekend at my place. About a dozen come for Fri thu Sun. I think mostly we grill steaks and have a wiskey as we BS by the fire pit.
Then in a couple weeks it's deer season. My wife, 36 year old son and at least one of my grandsons will be there for much of those two weeks. We take our time and watch nature. Unless tempted by the huge buck we won't shoot until the last weekend. That way we get to see a lot of interesting wildlife. After deer season is done , hopefully we will have enough for snowmobile trip from the cabin. If not we will still go to watch nature and enjoy.

That's very close to Johns dogtrot. Maybe you can pay him a visit, and convince him to buy some solar panels
I'll lightly pencil you in my schedule as a "definitely may stop in sometime in late spring" and if your route brings you through Louisville you're welcome to stop in and stretch your legs.

We just finished rifle season for white tail deer here in Michigan so I have been up north at my cabin as well as some other family members places. This has been a busy month with the end of bow and rifle season and Thanksgiving. Enjoyed all the time we have spent with friends and family not only hunting but just relaxing with good people up north. We have gotten and lost snow over the past month and we are now talking 60 degree weather for tomorrow so I am sure whatever was on the ground is or will be gone by tomorrow. I hope everyone is getting up to their places before the big snow hits and keeps you from enjoying it.
