Im looking to add a sleep camp to my existing log cabin. I would prefer round logs to match but small 2x4 or 6 logs would be fine as well and easier with no chinking ect.. Anyone know of where to get these kits in or around ontario, Canada. It seems hard to find these little log places..

We almost bought a kit from these dudes, even went out and did a tour of one of them. Really nice guy, but for the cost, we decided to build our own.

They look good and they were one of the few I found..I looked at The cottage life little cabin and they estimated that one at 5-6 thousand just in materials..10x12 metal roof ..so I figured for around the same price u could buy an actual pre fab log one...did you build one out of logs..where did you get the material ?

I didn't build out of logs - we decided to build normal, so it would be easier to insulate. The nice thing with those kits, is that it'd be FAST to build, we'd be done by now. But, our cabin will have a lot more features that their 16x16 wouldn't, so it's a trade off. It might seem expensive, but all building is and you can drive yourself crazy thinking of the costs. At least, that's what I tell myself. ;)

Good luck!

Exactly what we did as well. Went to see them and spent a long time considering a purchase. They are well made and go up really fast. Like you however, in the end we decided to build it ourselves with standard stick and frame. Once we started to add all the extras we wanted the price was going up and up. Still, if they suit your needs they are great looking and really well put together.

The nice thing with their kits is that you save a lot by not needing to buy interior/exterior siding (easily $2000 right there.) There are a lot of costs you avoid with their kits.

It would be cool if they built these double wall, with a layer of insulation between, although that'd be getting $$$.

If you insulate the floor and roof I bet they would heat up quite quickly

We're planning to build a "guest cabin" at our place too- similar size (probably 10x12' or 12x12'.) Since our main cabin is log, we want to do the same with the guest quarters. We priced out the options and we're going to build it ourselves, especially since our logs are free (we have 32 acres of pine forest to source from.) It's going to be one room with no water. We'll have power to it, though. It will double as a "game room" hangout space, with a foosball table, etc. Here's some of the design ideas we've been tossing around:
This is the shape we're thinking of doing- but log, obviously.

Sleeping quarters would be something like this.

On the other hand- I LOVE this look.

And I like the look of the logs in this one.

I definitely like the last 2 the best..as my main cabin is log as well I want he same as you..but I'm prepared to pay the extra for the kit..we did some major log replacement on the cabin last year and the work is hard..cutting stripping bark notching ect..finding all the proper size logs..and I'm on a island so boating all these logs over was a chore in itself..I'll still have to boat the kit over but it will be way easier ..I'm taking the easy way out lol
