My next project was going to be flying out the windows on a float plane, but I just got the price and it is $1800+ for the flight (turbo otter, based on a 60 or 65 mile minimum charge). My cabin is only about 17 miles from the airport....That would be some expensive miles per minute!

I guess I will have to wait until winter and snowmobile them out....Anybody have any good packing instructions for moving a 8'x4' double pane window 40 kms by snowmobile?? .

Life has been super busy but we are making progress on the cabin. Our early summer project has been building a dividing wall in the loft to create a "dormitory style" bedroom for kids (4 twin beds and one double, so sleeping for 6) and a parents sleeping area in the remaining open area. We left the wall open at the top to facilitate air circulation (Photos below.)

The rest of our summer to-do list includes:
1. Finish electrical runs and put T&G siding on the back side of the upstairs wall.
2. Finish sanding and staining the floor (1/2 done now.)
3. Put a coat of log sealant on the exterior of the cabin (any product recommendations welcome!!!)
4. Begin shed building experiment (we have the subfloor- need to secure it to footings and start building log walls. If the shed goes well, we plan to also build a log guest cabin...down the road.)
5. Cut, stack and split firewood to get through next winter.

We had originally hoped to do some dirt/boulder moving and some landscaping this summer, but realistically speaking, that's going to have to wait.

Very nice. We plan to spend quite a bit of time outside also.

In October, I will be camping on my land for at least a month to get a feel for land and build my first structure. It will be a shed with an outdoor shower on the end. Inside the shed will also be my first composting (bucket style) toilet.

Building this first will allow me to lock up some tools on site so I don't have to lug them down there with each visit.
