Hi everyone im in the process of starting the interior of my 12x16 cabin wanted to get your thoughts on using 2x8 boards on the interior for paneling.I know its overkill but I salvaged them for free.

Free is good.
Maybe you can trade someone for wall panel, T&G, drywall or whatever your preference maybe.

I salvaged 1X8 lap siding from the inside of a grain bin in an old barn and used them on one wall of my first cabin.
They really add character.

I don't see why not! If you take a bit of time and rout the face edges round, it gives the wall a log appearance.

You can but you'll lose 3 inches interior space each way...maybe too much in a small cabin. I second the suggestion of selling or trading them, or save them for a porch roof, shed, bunkie, etc.

If you have friend with a band saw you could cut them in half, then choose the side you want to show. Then you are not much thicker than T&G.
