I just wanted to share a photo of my new porch light. It's a coleman lantern that I put 12 volt g4 LEDs in. It works pretty good but, the lantern blocks light from going down, like to see when trying to put your key in the door. But it does cast a good light, much like a gas lantern.

Great idea, maybe if it where mounted lower next to the door you'd see your keys better. I like it where it is though.

Thanks. I thought about mounting it lower, but I was concerned someone would swipe it.

Looks great - I have a couple of Dietz lights inside that have been converted.
Always wanted to try converting a Coleman lamp...... you inspired me!
Found this on CL today in free section - 1952 military Coleman - can you please explain how you wired it?

That's a cool lantern. I just took the top off and drilled through where the gas would flow and fished the wires through from a G4 socket. The socket was almost the same size as a mantle, then I connected them to some wires painted gray to match the handle. That lantern looks like a single mantle, so you would probably only need one socket and LED bulb.
