I introduced myself on the general discussion section, but thought I’d post over here with some build pics.

The first cabin was my inspiration. We couldn’t get the roof pitch as steep as I wanted, the guys were just way too uncomfortable with it.

Here is the build album. We are still working on the other.

Great album! Love that 1976 note and all the old photos. I think that the roof pitch actually turned out better in the end. I mean I understand why you were charmed by the inspiration photo, but having 2 side-by-side cabins with such an attention-calling pitch would have distracted, in my opinion. It would have read as "dominating storybook rooflines" rather than the feel you acheived which is "been here forever/fits in with local history."

The note was on one of the rockers on the front porch. I loved the provenance, so I researched it on Ancestry, and was lucky enough to find picture of them! I message the heirs and invited them to stay if they are ever/out this way.

The Bible was stuck in the drawer of the little table. I found and returned it to the family.

The bed was made by a local family. The story goes, he made it for his wife as a wedding gift. They were married for 70 years.

I have my in-laws family armoire that I just recently put in the cabin, and fits perfectly! My mother-in-law took it out of the room it was in because she thought it would look much better in the cabin. What a blessing. I’ll take some pictures and put it on the album.

Thanks for the comments. These cabins have been ummm....fun and exhausting ...lol

Just wonderful to see the work you have done. You did so much to preserve all the human energies that went into these spaces. You are a real gem.

Thank you for the kind words!

So here are some updated photos of the second build

The plan is to connect the front porch decking, then run the deck between the two cabins so the French doors open to it.
