At the cottage life show, I saw a number of bunkies that were framed, with only T&G siding or the thicker larger pre fabricated logs.
Can you really finish a wall with only T&G? If you don't want any insulation... is there any real downside to this?
I'm talking really small things under 200sqft.

Looking at a company like ezlog.ca
Says the wall logs are 1 5/8"
So they just stain these things and that's it?

Before sheet wood products, 1x12 on a diagonal gave racking and sheer resistance. The key being the diagonal orientation. I don't see how a tongue and groove wall has any racking strength. It would need some bracing to keep the wall from blowing out with roof weight.

The T&G I was looking at is 1.75" thick.
The timber frame I would be building has braces in it at 45deg.
These structures do not have braces, and the 'logs' they use are 1 5/8"
I am curious about putting the T&G on an angle, would that be a problem for water intrusion if it were the wall, like the picture here.

Huh, is it me or did they install those cinder blocks incorrectly in the picture above?
They should be on the hole side down/up.
