There is an appeal to the 'just do it' ZFG attitude.

However, given they have 584K subscribers I am surprised they are not getting at least some blow back in the comments.

Not sure how many people are going to use that method to decide if something is square, I hope none.

Given this is in Canada, shouldn't you go surface or below the frost line? What happens when you put posts in like that?

Why not use concrete and/or sleeves to protect the wood? The cost is pretty minimal

I say all of this fully aware I am a noob.

When they put on the stove flashing on their roof, it shows just how little they know about it. I cringed watching them put metal flashing and then it not fitting right on the roof.

However I give credit to anyone willing to build an off grid cabin. It's not easy and I'm sure they will learn a lot from it.

I love the beams they cut with the wean/bark on them.

Those look awesome.

Could you buy that kind of 'siding' from a mill?

What would you call it?

They put metal flashing on top of metal roofing. Nothing sealed. I left a comment saying neoprene gaskets should be used on metal roofs. He did reply back to me that they will need to redo it but it was cold and they just wanted to get it dried in.

They also screwed the metal down on the ribs instead of the flat parts of the metal...Like I said I cringed, but they will learn.
