Much smaller? I would put my lawnmower all the way up and mow it. Thats not what we would call brush on the east coast.

It's probably around a quarter acre. The live sage could probably be mowed but the dead stuff on the ground is much thicker.

A guy quoted 1500 to clear it, but that's more than I want to spend.

If you distroy it you should replace it with somthing or it will erode, looks arid maybe best left alone.

What's the reason for clearing it? Do you just need it mowed or completely gone?

I was hoping to build my first cabin there, something small to gain expierance on. We have a little meadow higher up I'm saving for a larger cottage.

That's interesting, I was just planning to cover most of it with gravel. Also build a small guest cabin.

Could you tell me more about erosion? What could I expect if I didn't replace the vegetation?

I'd go this route if you are planning to build on top of the cleared area. Get a small excavator with a thumb on the bucket and a blade on the front. Dig up each bush and pile them off to the side. Then blade the area smooth.

Have the gravel brought in and smooth it out. Then start your build.
