Thanks again everyone for the guidance so far. I am picking up my "new to me" system mid-September.

I managed to get a few more pictures that have raised more questions...

The 1st 2 panels (Kyocera) I believe are 24v panels
the Sharp panels, I believe are 26v.

Am I right?

Still figuring things out!

The Kyocera have a Vmp of 23.6, so yeah, call them 24 volt panels.

The Sharp have a Vmp of 30.1. How do you get 26 volts you think they might be?

In what configuration are these intended to be connected? How many of each? How many in series-parallel? Mixed? One charge controller?

Reference pages on the panels

Kyo

Sharp

The rated Imp match almost perfectly and you can see the extra volts come from more cells, 60 vs 48.

I looked up your other post where you stated there are 2 of each of those panels; 2 x 185 watt and 2 x 235 watt, along with an Outback FM60 controller.

No idea how those were configured in the donor system. But, a good way to use those panels would be to run two series strings and parallel those. Place 1 x 185 + 1 x 235 in each series string and parallel those series strings together to the FM60. The Imp outputs are almost identical so they go together well in series. The mismatch on the Vmp voltages don't matter much in series.

This article is pretty good for explaining the disadvantages to mixing panels of different specs, in series or parallel, into the one charge controller. As well the maximum voltage and maximum wattage has to be calculated to prevent going over the controllers' maximum volts and watts.

The link is for information purposes only. I have never bought from them, have never compared their pricing and have no idea of their integrity but the matching panel info is correct.
