I had hope to use Polyiso for the ceiling insulation and found a place close that recycled sheet for a good price. But when we went to check it out, wife said it smelled like a chicken house. I couldn't smell it and I have a pretty good nose, but.... not worth the fight.

So I ended up getting 2 in PolyPor from Lowe's. It went up pretty good, just more messy that the Polyiso would have been. Taped over all the joints (which also covered the rafters between them) and spray foamed all gaps. I was 2 rolls short on the tape so will finish up next time.

I know it not enough R- whatever but with us, a night that gets down to 20F is cold, lol. It's not unheard of to have mosquitoes in January!

Up next is the walls, which will be batts. Then T&G and flooring, and .... It's never ending, lol

That’s nice work. Clean and tight.

Im just curious, did you leave an air gap or set the sheets right up against the roof sheathing?
I can’t see a vent any where, not that you may even need one in your application.
Not knowing your location or climate it’s hard to say.

I know here in the north east especially in our particular situation we get enough moisture that unless we’re spraying closed cell foam ventilation is a must to prevent mold, mildew and possible wood wrought and damage.

I’m not saying you will have any trouble at all, I’m just interested in how and why you chose your methods

An alternative to spray foam is to use foam sheets directly in contact with the underside of the roof sheeting. Then seal the sides of the rafter bay to the foam sheet with cans of spray foam. The sheet foam has no air permeability and moisture can not make it to the cold roof to condense. This is probably the most economical and DIY method to insulate a roof. No venting needed.

An air gap is only needed if you have both a ridge vent and soffit vents. I do not recommend vents for a seasonal cabin.

Hey man I think it looks great and by the looks of your work I am sure you have done your homework and have a plan. As you wrote, there will never be an end. Thats the good part. On the first night that you can finally start spending nights and your sitting by your bonfire with your family n friends. There is a lot of satisfaction from sitting back and saying you did this. And if you are like me. I want to be able to leave my family with a beautiful cabin in the woods. Or maybe just like building cabins in the woods you want to do it again. As an investment I feel that I could easily double my cost back if we had to sell it. But the plan is to just have a great time making great memories.
Your doing a great job!

The siding panels they used to make shed is called ThermalShield, it has a foil backing on it for radiant barrier and says ( on the foil side) to not put insulation tight to it. The PolyPro was 2" and rafters are 2x4 so there is a gap behind them. I wanted to use PolyIso sheets but could not get local.

But it only has a ridge vent, no soffit vents. So I am not 100% how it's going to work out. I plan to treat it as not vented and keep as much moisture to inside. I am putting a exhaust fan inside on one gable end. I think about the only time it will be needed is winter (I will have propane heat) to pull out extra humidity but here in NC foothills cold not a big issue.

Summer time I will have a/c running during afternoon and evening to help with temp/ humidity. Worse case I can run dehumidifier at times to dry it out some.

LOL I have my camper up there now and we have had a few good drinks by the fire. But most time it's me by myself doing a couple work days and the too pooped to do much.

But as soon as hunting season starts....
