Got the piles rammed in today for our new bridge. It has a 10 ton capacity. 9 feet 6 inches between the guard rails. The concrete abutments should be poured in the next couple days.

Is this your project or a county deal? Also, the rating, you may find cement truc ks, lumber trucks etc may get skittish before driving over it.
Any special permitting or is this on your own private property? Nice work, looks great.

Old bridge needed to be replaced. So new bridge and new road. About 3/4 of a mile +.

Bridge accesses part of our land that has 4 pipelines crossing it. Located in IL. 35 miles east of St. Louis.

Its our private property. Permits had to be approved by corp of
engineers, .gov approved stream and waterways engineer and an environmental impact study done. I can't take credit for the work. Bridge was designed, built, and soon to be installed by
Keely and Sons. They do tons of bridge and overpass work in the St. Louis metro area. Road work and excavation done by a very good local company.
As of last Friday. Road work used a little over 400 tons. Rip Rap used 488 tons. Totals still rising. Lol
My biggest contribution was going head to head with the pipeline negotiators and making them pay for everything. Everything in writing. No more verbal or hand shake deals.

That is cool, nice place for a gate or those tire popping spikes if you enter without property security code, keep the place nice and secure. HD gate at one end of bridge, no way anyone is going to drive around the gate.
Post pics of the finish project. Looks fantastic and its HD enough for anyone to drive over it without questioning it.

Old bridge deck was worn out. And one of the footings was scouring and dropped a few inches.

Finally got the bridge set.
Had a delay due to weather.
Spans 43 feet 6 inches without on and off ramps yet.

Retaining wing walls. Still need more work on exit ramp. And bringing driveway up 18 more inches at bridge approach.
We had a bobcat and pickup on the bridge deck at the same time.
Seems solid. Lol.
Deck is 4 x 12 treated Hickory on top of the girder spans.

Thanks fishhog and everyone else.
Did the final inspection today. A friend of mine and I did our own inspection on the road with a piece of ree bar and a sledge hammer. Didn't find any spots less than about a foot deep and hard packed. And at the bridge approach it is probably pushing 2 feet deep. It had to be solid to support the crane.
The beginning rock base was no smaller than 3 inch, then periodically filled in with 1 to 2 inch. Then after being smashed in with countless trips from trackhoes, dump trucks, cranes etc. More and more loads of rock.
Part of the deal was. After all was done. The final finish to the road was 3 to 6 inches of CA6 unwashed. And at my insistence. NO STEEL TRACKED MACHINES on the way out. So final finish was done with a tandem dump truck and a rubber tracked bobcat.
I have to give a big shout out to the truck drivers. At the entry way from pavement to the job site. Is a very tight S curve and a half. All dump trucks, even the semi trailer ones with the dump beds had to be backed the entire way down the road. Over 1/2 mile. I watched one guy back a semi with a 53 foot trailer, loaded with an extended reach boom the whole way without going off the road, or having to pull forward and reset. Amazing driving for sure.
