Man I love quick cabin improvements..

Went to Harbor Freight to get an ATV battery (those work good btw) with my expiring 20% off coupon. Out of stock, but I noticed this solar powered, lithium battery, motion heat detecting outside LED light so I grabbed that, so as not to waste the trip, or the coupon.

I'm not using the solar panel that comes with it, it has a DC input jack I have wired to a USB outlet in the cabin (it has in internal 3.7v battery) to keep it charged. First of all, this sucker it bright, lights up the whole front of the place (photo doesn't do it justice, maybe the flash). I no longer have to bring a flashlight when the dog and I take our midnight pee.

Another big advantage for me: Since my cabin is powered by lithium batteries in my truck, if we arrive at night I have to leave the headlights on until I get the cabin plugged in and lit up. Not anymore, instant light with the internal battery.

And of course the security feature. No one is getting within 50ft. of the cabin in the dark without being stunned by this thing.

They come in several brightness and working angle, and price. I got the big daddy.

Been thinkin on such lately, and now that time is changing it is gonna be way dark far too early. Thumps in the dark night 'trouble me'.
Downside as I consider it is how often it gets triggered, imagine I'll be wantin to check why even if not hearing thumps, at least for a while.

I was pleasantly surprised about that. Previously I had one of those small dim 3 AA battery jobs, it would go off all the time, a gnat would trigger it. This new one has not gone off once without me or the dog triggering it.

The one that paul linked has 3 settings. Lux, sensitivity and time. Along with off/auto/on.

I dont get any false triggers on mine.

I was so enamored with this light that I bought another, smaller version and put it in the bathroom, again hooked to 5v cabin power, replacing the week AA battery powered one I had. Works perfect, need to move it up to the ceiling but wanted to get it adjusted first. About 20 bucks.

Yeah, it has a timer knob I have set for a long pee. If you're sitting for a longer period, you have to wave your arms around every so often. Helps with the throughput as well.

The pantyhose idea is great! I cut up and taped pieces of tan plastic grocery bags to the too bright light that came with our HF solar panels. It was super bright and a little harsh (especially compared to our gas lights) so we wanted to dim it down a bit in our living room.

Those little,'nylon socklets' would probably fit pretty well iffn ya dont have any full size throw-aways.
