I'm still going through all the stuff I got cleaning out an estate last summer, including this new ARO pump I know nothing about. Apparently air powered and expensive.

Anyone know what these are used for? Maybe I can use it, probably not.

We have them at work, we use it for waste oil and waste antifreeze. When turned on, hooked to compressed air, it pumps and quite well. We use it to move the waste oil/coolant to outside storage tanks to be picked up by the recyclers. Its all plumbed into the building, so I never see the waste oil itself, we drain the oil into a roll around caddy, those are like 40 gallons or so, doesnt take long to move 40 gallons of waste out, maybe 5 minutes max. We have a coupler on the caddy and the mating coupler on a small hose whip hooked to the pump, then turn the air valve on, in under 5 minutes, all gone, I never see it or handle it.
That is the most common brand, its industrial equipment.

A diaphragm pump can really pump a wide variety of things. At an old job we them to pump oils, antifreeze and paint. One of these in a 2in pump can empty a 55gal drum in less than 30sec.

I would ebay that. Not much use for one in a non industrial application that a $100 sump pump cant do.

Thanks guys. So if I'm not pumping large amounts of some fluid other than water based, sounds like I can send it down the road.

I guess they use air in industrial places that have large compressors, instead of electric pumps. Less fire/shock potential maybe.
