Hey all,
I’m looking for recommendations for smoke, fire and C02 detecters

Our cabin is unheated most of the time.
We are in south west New Hampshire and it gets pretty cold there so batteries just don’t last very long.
I suppose we could take them out when we leave and put them in when we’re there but that could be a PITA

We use a wood stove when we are there and would like to feel and be safe.

We have power so I’m thinking a hardwire or direct plug in type of unit would be best..

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

My cabin is unheated in northern ontario and my batteries last just fine. May take them a while to warm up when we show up in the super cold parts of winter.

I suspect better quality batteries may help your issue. I get 2 years or more out of my CO detector batteries and smoke alarms.

I believe many smoke and CO (not CO2) detectors sold these days have built in, non-replaceable lithium batteries. Good for about 10 years. Those batteries perform very well in very cold temperaures. Since it is recommended to replace the detectors at about ten years those do seem to make sense.

Or buy the typical detectors that use 9 volt or AA batteries and fit it with a lithium non-rechargable battery.... also a very good performer in the cold, down to way below zero F.

Ditto ICC and Fishhog - we are in Quebec with really cold winters (we are not there) and have had no issues with good quality 9Volt batteries holding up for 2 or more years. Having said that, if you have power, consider powered with back up batteries.

Eddie, get the lithium batteries, last much longer, but comes at a price.

Just bought this two weeks ago, was surprised at the non replaceable battery. $15 shipped.

Thanks everyone.
Sounds like the lithium battery detectors will hold up in the cold better then the standard batteries..
Of course we have had batteries live through the winter in the past...flash lights etc...but we’ve also had some that just can’t cut it, like in clocks for instance...

So I’m going with a lithium combo
