How's the snow n trails in your area. I heard some snow bridges were collapsing during last weeks warm spell. Trails being groomed? Real icey.

I haven't been up since new years but plan to go up this Friday. Grooming has been spotty in the Petersville area for a couple of reasons - lots of downed trees that needed to be cleared, reduced state funding, and the guy that really knew how to do it quit a few years ago.

Up there didn't get much in the way of rain like the lower Susitna Valley but it did get warm so I suspect there might be some water and ice around. It's cold now though, so creeks should freeze back up.

Did you get north ? See the Willow 300 dog race went up your way this last weekend. Iditarod coming up . Leaving from Deshka landing. Would be nice to go watch on the trail.

I was planning on it but in the end I stayed home and tackled some deferred maintenance on the snowmachines. I will for sure be heading up Friday, however.

On Saturday I'll be heading out from my cabin to my friend's house near Montana Creek. Some other friends will be joining us and we are going to ride over to the Yetna River near McDougall Lodge. Camp out and ride back Sunday.

The Iron Dog racers bust out of Big Lake on Saturday but I'm not sure if we will get to the Yetna in time to see them go by. I'll have a pretty good trail report when I get back though.

Hey Rick,
John from down on September Lake. I was up a week+ ago. 2-3 feet of snow on the ground, didn't see any overflow on the lake or in the swamp to the east of my place. Powder on top, but pretty solid. Although I did hear somebody trying to get themselves out of a hole down on the creek.

Trails out of 118 were rock solid, and the Ridge trail heading north to 120 was groomed (not sure how far). Mostly I was there shoveling a flat roof on the property we bought to the north of our cabin, so didn't get out much.

Thanks guys. I might get over to the iron dog. I had to have some body work recently so haven't been out much.
This little bit of snow should help. Everything going to be pretty hard with this deep freeze.

We did end up catching the last 3rd of Iron Dog racers on our trip. I put a wide ranging 125 miles on the snowmachine this weekend and I'll say that the trails are in reasonably good shape.

About 12" of snow fell last week over the region. That softened up the trails nicely.
