Just wanted to say Hi and introduce myself!

For over 15 years we have lived Off Grid on our 20 acre Homesteaded property off the beaten track in BC.
Built the cabin we live in ourselves with lumber off our sawmill.

Solar power, Satellite Internet, generator backup, no running water, wood heat, everything done manually.

We love it!!

Any others living fulltime Off Grid here?

Tell us more.... How big is the cabin, how much solar, what type of stove, do you carry water and what is your water source? Do you photo you can post?
I'm just getting started.

Erins#1Mom......cabin is about 32 feet long by 21 wide. We just have a simple solar system, two panels, 6 batteries. For the first two years we had only candles for light, no solar or generator! :) Propane stove and fridge. We have a dug well with a hand pump and also a gas power water pupm and fire hoses to fill water barrels and water the garden.
We also have barrels to catch rain water from the roof. we heat up our water in pots on the wood stove.
hattie,
I have lots of pictures and will post some soon!

turkeyhunter, thank you, we love our home in the bush. Love the simpler, slower way of life. :)

I did have a great harvest last year!

I have been involved with dogs for many years! Used to show and breed, now we are just involved with Rescue! SO many dogs in need of homes, very sad.

I have thousands of pictures from years of homesteading, dogs that have owned me, wildlife, hiking, mushroom picking, etc.!

I will be carefull not to 'over do it' with pics. heehee

You can't overdo it with those kinds of pics here. Keep them coming. Your place looks great by the way.

I don't see any gutters on your roof. How do you catch the rain water from the roof?

Looks like you have a beautiful spot there. I want to hear how you do everything. *S* Laundry, etc. Sounds like you use a lot of propane...Do you have a big tank somewhere? How do you get it filled? Do you cut and split your own wood? How far are you from shopping? Do you have neighbours? I guess you don't have a telephone - cell sevice? Sorry for all the questions, but I am always so fascinated to hear from someone who is truly "living the dream". *S*

MrsP-

Great job! Awesome place you have- you are living a dream that many wish they had the ability to do. Keep the pictures and posts coming. How about some details on your sauna? I was thinking about doing a wood fired hot tub or a sauna one of these days...
