That's a drag. So does it mean they got your Paypal password, and you change it and all your others?

yup, they got and changed my password, which i'm not sure how they did it if they don't have access to my email?? Thankfully paypal makes me change my password all the time, so its different than any of my other accounts (but not too far off so I should probably change them as well)....annoying for sure..

Does PP direct link withdrawals from your checking? If so, that is a Bad Thing.
Use a CC with PP and you have whatever 'protections', if any, that PP has and all the protections the CC has.

yes i have my checking linked b/c I accept rent from tenants, and then deposit it into my account.....so using a credit card isn't going to help me there.....But maybe I should setup a "transfer account" that is linked to paypal that I just move money through....and then transfer into my "real" checking....just annoying these people don't but their energy into something worthwhile, b/c they are obviously skilled to some extent...

Somebody lied when they said,"crime doesnt pay".
Yep, do whatever you can every time you find a weakness in your defenses; ie, cover yer butt, after all, its Your butt.

Hey there! I totally get where you're coming from. I used to be the same way and preferred paying with cash, but nowadays, it's just so much more convenient to use a card.

Credit card use, yes. Debit card use, no. Lots of loose change laying around doesn't happen anymore, is a plus. Paying a card off from a cell phone application is a grand, convenient invention. Cell phone constantly monitoring the account with email or text alerts is a grand thing as well. Cash back with cards is a huge plus. Tap to pay is wonderful, but don't make my mistake. I use Apple Pay sometimes (having the card stored in my wallet), however I also use a cell phone case that holds my credit cards. I found there is one problem with this. A tap to pay card is sometimes activated instead of my Apple Pay, since it sits in the phone case near the reader. I had a charge on a card that I thought I might have to dispute, until I figured out what had happened. I intended to use Apple Pay by holding my phone up to the reader, instead it read the credit card not in my Apple Wallet.

Anyway, I like a card. It's no hassle to me.

@Paulz, it seems your question re gas pumps got deleted in the cleanup of spam.

There should be no cost to you if you select credit or debit at the gas pump. The merchant might be charged a different fee. You might get a discount for cash instead of card.

If the pump asks you, credit or debit and you have inserted a credit card, do NOT select debit as the pump may then ask for a PIN.

Debit cards are just a bad idea, IMO. They do not offer the same fraud protection as a credit card. I don't have any debit cards and don't want one.

I probably said before; I use credit cards mostly, very little cash and have not written a paper check in years, other than for real estate or a motor vehicle.

Thanks ICC. Just today I had to fill a can of diesel for the tractor. My two cards both say “Visa” and “debit card”. I was not asked to enter “credit” or “debit” but I did have to enter a pin.
