Seems to line up with our companies experience.. Sigh I just wished they didn't act so stupid. I think the video would be taken much more serious!

Ive watched some of his stuff before, he seems to give good info (at least from my past experience) When He Actually Gets To The Info. I can only take just so much of stupid stuff.....
The end part about how plain eth-blend gas did as well (or poorly) as eth-blend with the additives was telling.
At that point I wondered (but didnt want to listen thru again) if he had an engine with non-eth-blend in the test?

It was like the first engine he tested.. It did the best. When he dropped the carb it looked brand new.
For anyone interested, AVE on Youtube actually has a video on removing ethanol from gasoline (hint, you can literally wash it out). Some people do it up here as it can be next to impossible to find non-ethanol fuel.

Wow, lots of good info. So Biscuits was Bill Verbisico? The Ramblers club house is still there but the hills of Point Richmand are a park now and no riding is allowed. There used to be a short MX course that we used to ride right behind the club house. The south end went right behind the target stands of the gun range. Back it the day people used to drive up to the range and start shooting. I always watched for that because Richmand, even then, was a bit on the crazy side.

Thanx Trav, Im reassured now that 'my' process of using non-eth prem + Sta-Bil for the last runs before lay-up for the winter is sound.  Otherwise Id be fretting All Winter!

I never understood keeping the tank full either. Until I went to buy a $300 generator with a steel tank that had rusted prety badly. I paid $50 for it and it now pumps our water every year. Condensation build up in the air space of a tank that's not full. In a plastic tank you can drain out the water but you will never get it all.

A conclusion from the Taryl Fixes All study:
For long storage (length of study was 19 months)
either empty the fuel tank and run the bowl dry or:
1.) use ethanol free pure gasoline and fill the tank completely full so there is no air space if you want to
leave fuel in it. I think I'd still shut off the fuel line and run it dry.
2.) use Stabil 360 in gasoline with ethanol if you can't get or it's just an inconvenience to get pure gasoline. This fuel stabilizer seemed to perform best over all of the others. Once again, it's a good idea to fill the tank totally full so there is no airspace (just like what all others said above). Probably a good idea to shut off fuel line to the bowl and operate until it stops, using up all of the fuel in the bowl.
3.) If possible, remove the bowl of the carburetor and empty the contents, then reassemble.
If you have a bulk container of gasoline either pure or with ethanol, it might be a good idea to refill it to the top without an air space and either add the Stabil (if with ethanol). If pure gasoline, just fill it to the top and remove any head space. Once again, this is if you have a bulk container and you don't have a use for the fuel at the end of the season and you are going to store it over a period of time.
Did I miss anything? If so, please add to the summary.
The fuel stabilizer is a good idea for those of us without convenient pure gasoline options where we are stuck using the 10% ethanol stuff.

I do like to run some of the 'good winterized gas' thru the carb for a bit, not big on the idea of filling the whole tank with that expensive stuff.
The carbs on those engines had drain plugs on the float bowl. If I have an engine with such I will run the good gas a bit, petcock off, and 'run it dry'. Of course it wont be 'dry', so drop the drain plug and make it dry. Maybe leave the drain plug out so if the petcock leaked the bowl wont fill?
Engines with plastic gas tanks I dont fill up, they wont rust. Metal tanks are problematic. Gen tanks especially so ime, more than motorcycle tanks. Maybe the gen tanks arent 'lined' as well (or at all from two Ive seen)?Having what will soon be $100 worth of gas sitting in stored equipment gas tanks bothers me.
From 'T's test it looks like Offing the petcock and draining the carb via the plug will stop the float bowl sludge for sure and certain and either draining the tank or filling it completely, even with eth-blend, would be your call?
Draining a tank is easy, pop the gas line at the carb, stick it in a clean container to catch and turn the petcock on.
Just absolutely keep any eth-blend OUT of the carb for storage.
