Hey All

I added a fresh air intake to our wood stove and was very happy with the results. Much better draft, easier to light and control the burn. It was pretty easy as well. They sell kits for some stoves but I built my own. Have a look at our video if you have a wood stove.

Looks good. I have been convinced for over a couple of decades that fresh air inlets for wood stoves were a great thing, no matter what a website or two have stated.

I also agree they make a woodstove operate better. They do lower the combustion chamber temperature on the latter half of a long burn, but the benefits outweigh that small con.

I also made one for our stove. This is in our full time home and I saw a noticeable difference in interior temps and I burn less wood.

Thanks for the video. This project is slowly creeping up on my to do list. This will be a useful reference. Good job.

Hey All

Thanks for the comments. As snobdds says the end of a burn can be cooled by the outside air from the intake. The ducting I used has a damper, I close that on the last load before bed and that slows the burn and avoids the cooling effect. The ability to regulate the incoming and outgoing air with dampers is game changing.
