I have a small tent wood stove installed in my barn and the chimney pipes have been leaking after it rains or the snow melts. It's a Winnerwell tent stove system, with 3.5" diameter pipes — never designed to be permanent, but I have been using it more or less permanently for the last year and a half, and it was working well. The pipes just fit into one another, and I have added bolts to keep them tighter together.
But now water appears to be getting into the joints between the pipe sections. I put foil tape and silicone on each joint last summer but it looks like they failed, probably due to high heat.
Can anyone recommend a tape, or better yet, silicone, that would seal the metal joints, and withstand both cold ambient temps (down to -10F) and high heat during use (probably up to 500-600deg F)? All the sealants I've seen online are either red or black, so I am also looking for clear or white, if possible.
