Is what I paid to fill my diesel jug for the tractor yesterday. Gas is running about a buck less.

Gas here is a low (the past 3-4 days?) of $3.79 at our local BP, then more at the gougers of any brand.
Diesel about a buck more than the eth-blend reg at whatever price everywhere.
Non-eth Prem is scary high, glad I only have 1 bike that needs it, but I do run all my small engine equipment on it at end of fall prepping for winter lay-up.
That local BP has been consistently good for the past couple years and we get a 10c/gal discount by using the BP/VISA for other purchases out in the world. Think there is also some other rebate % off the monthly bill for those 'others' too. Been good for us!

Wowza. We are paying $4.79 at every station in town for regular unlead. Haven't bought diesel in awhile so I'm not sure where its at.

Glad I bought 100 gallons over a buck ago. Still coasting off of that for the time being..

Gas here has always been way above the national average. Added state taxes don't help any.

Funny story: Safeway Supermarket gives shoppers a discount on gas. I'm not a shopper but a pal of mine is, or was, and he never buys gas there. So for about 3 years I would enter his phone number at the pump, usually good for 10-20 cents a gallon discount. Been as much as 50 a time or two! Unfortunately he moved out of state a year ago, kept the same number but apparently no Safeway nearby.

I have never said anything to him. At the bar he backs every beer with a shot, and expects to split the bill. So I figure fair justice.

Not sure if it's the same everywhere, but Costco fuel is quite a bit cheaper here and for me with a 1-ton diesel, it's paid for in just a few fill ups. When i got diesel last week, it was $0.80 a gallon cheaper than any other station in town. I think regular runs around $0.25 cheaper than other stations. Even during "normal" times their gas is always cheaper.

Something to think about.

I worked for an outfit that purchased food weekly for the employees who stayed on site during their workweek (week on, week off work). They would get everything delivered from our local Safeway. I asked if I could put my Phone # into their account, and got the OK.

I got $1 off per gallon (the max) for every fillup for almost 3 years until I got a different job and someone sniped the discount away from me But it was great while it lasted!

For years our local Safeway here in AZ had double points... always on selected gift cards. Well HomeDepot was one of those cards so anytime I needed any materials from HD I would go buy a card first. Did that last week, no more double points but hey, got a $300 card for stuff needed at the cabin and that still gives me 30 cents off per gallon.

Edit... $4.29 for unleaded here

Diesel is pushing $5.00 a gallon up here. As Will1e said, Costco is a good bit cheaper, and is now worthwhile to me to go out of my way to get it.

Yeah, I will be in Los Anchorage next week so I'm sure I'll be doing the quarterly Costco run. Luckily it won't be on a weekend...

Filled up yesterday at $1.75 per liter which works out to $6.61 per Gallon Canadian and that was at a First Nations discount gas station.

Looking at GasBuddy.com one can see some pretty ridiculously priced gas out there....

Cancel my trip to Death Valley!

Time to dig though my box of locking gas caps. Right next to the box of slide out stereo mounts. Behind the box of locking lug nuts.

ROFLMAO Paulz !
A Veteran of Past Crisis without a doubt and still rigged up for it. That Safe-Place-Box-1 of goodies had it's purpose afterall.

I was just thinking of my old Dodge Ram with dual highway tanks and what that would cost TODAY to fill from E... Ohhh what a shudder up the spine that is. That was never ever cheap to fill but now... oi...

Had my 1st Spring sighting yesterday of the Huge new shiny motorhome towing an upscale 4dr suv; it was pulling out of a 'fuel station'....and I dont mean elec charging station.
Couldnt help but wonder what his fuel bill was and just how far (or, rather, how not so far) he could go.

More and more, thieves are just drilling a hole in the bottom of your gas tank to steal your gas.

I keep a pile of little stickers in my vehicles to remind everyone where the high price is coming from and leave it on the pump everytime I fill up. And I warranty it if its removed too, ie install a new one.

I filled up today at $5.80 a gallon, unleaded regular. The station, Valero if you know it, had a sign advertising E85 for $4.00 a gallon. Also said 'not a Valero product' on the sign. Sounded a little scary so I passed. I was in my '99 Ford pickup.

I know our gas has ethanol but how much, normally, I don't know. Do you run E85?

Found an article on it, two years old

E85 is for flex fuel vehicles. I have never owned one but the mpg reflects the lower price per gallon..so I dont think the actual dollar per mile is that much of a savings.

Thanks Brett. I was confusing it with E15, thinking it was 15%, not 85. Would have been a bad day had I put that in!

Years back I ran an 'over some time' test of out 10% eth-blend reg vs non-eth.
The mpg I got with the non-eth completely offset the higher price, it was apparently a 'more energy dense' fuel. I have not done it for a long time, especially since the only non-eth I can get here is the way overpriced prem.
Point: I expect the E-85 would be even less 'powerful' than the std eth-blend reg at 10%. If I had a flex-fuel vehicle Id give it a test.
Btw, with the 10c/gal discount we get from our BP card we (WI) just paid &3.47/gal yesterday for eth-blend reg. Sad thing is that for every dollar spent on fuel it is one less dollar spent on other consumer goods. With a consumer goods based economy (it is like 85% of the econ) that aint looking good for this year.

Sigh. Was out at the cabin this weekend.. I took my 2500 gas truck and just had tools and 4 sheets of drywall. Cost me $55 each way for a 1.5 hour drive. and that is after our provincial government suspended the $0.15/L local tax for this month.

Starting to feel like living in Europe!

Yup. Had a similar drive to the cabin this weekend too. $90 - although that wasn't quite roundtrip.

At least I had the excuse of pulling 5000lbs up to the cabin..

I'd do backflips to fill up at that price! Calif. gas has always been more expensive but $2+ is ridiculous. I'm itching to take my old '56 Vette for another weekend outing but at 13mpg just to sightsee it ain't worth it.

There was talk about releasing some US reserves, if that happened they didn't release any here!

I'd be very glad to spend more dollars on 'consumer goods' than on fuel and pump up the over all economy.

They gave some kind of 'credit' to the oil companies to have them 'release' the token spoken reserves release amount....all a ploy to instill some confidence.

FYI 'the oil companies' do not control the SPR. Our beloved Gov does, and sells releases from the SPR to oil companies.

Everyone wants to demonize Big Oil, but the market sets the price, Gov responds with SPR releases, and big oil is just the man in the middle.

Yes, I work for said 'big oil', and while we are not purely bystanders to the process, much of the pricing issues are well outside of our control.
