Friends,
How difficult is it to build a sub-200 sq. ft. cabin on a plot that lies within the blue line of the Adirondacks?
In other words, would I run into issues if I put up a sub-200 sq. ft. cabin without getting the jurisdictional inquires done?
How easy (or how onerous) is the Adirondack Park Agency (APA) permitting process?
Has anyone gone through this process? Any advice or suggestions will be most useful.
I have attached a sample APA jurisdictional inquiry form... (in case you need a reference)...

The best advice I can give you is to start the process by contacting the code enforcement officer for the town in which you wish to build. They should be a wealth of information in getting you started. Some are ornery and difficult to deal with (afflicted with "damn tourists" syndrome), and some are friendly. However, they have to deal with you; its their job.
I would not attempt to circumvent APA regs...they'll come back and bite you.
Disclaimer: I am not an attorney nor have I gone through the process since I bought my camp already built; I've just spent a lot of time around these parts and have heard, read, and seen a lot.

From what I understand, it all depends on how much land you own and what leve of restrictions are placed on it. Some areas you need 50 acres or more to be able to build on.
That is why we chose to purchase and build outside of the Adirondack park.
