I'm about to call in a Kohler repairman but am hoping someone here has an idea I can try. I have a Kohler generator that was working until the day the LP delivery guy shutoff the main to recertify the lines via a pressure test. Test completed, LP turned back on. All LP appliances came back to life except the generator.

When engaging the run function all I get is a LP electronic valve mechanism engaging. Ticks the valve just slightly. Assume its the LP bleeder, just automatic. Nothing else engages.

Checked the fuses = good.
Changed the solenoid. Changed the battery. Tested the starter.

If I just leave the switch to run, with that valve mechanism engaging I will smell the propane additive but not a lot - just a whiff.

Of all the Kohler documentation I can find I do not see a pressure switch, in the diagrams, for the LP. There is some sort of switch, in-line, where the LP comes into the generator shed - then switch - then to engine. I'm assuming that the pressure isn't correct - thus telling the ignition sequence not to proceed.

500lb LP tank to generator shed - regulator and ball valve on outside of shed.

Thoughts? ~Thanks, Shawn

Sorry, should state: Engine is Ford inline four 1.3 and the unit has 1,100 hours.

Im no pro, but....
Sounds like an air-lock of LP delivery.
I suggest you 'crack' the fitting closest to the gen and let it bleed off some pressure. The regulator at the tank will prevent it from being Huge Pressure. If the gen has its own regulator it is the secondary reg. (2-stage regulation is a good thing).
With gas right up to the inlet the gen should run through its start sequence and go.

Could be the pressure is too high not allowing the LP switch to open.

I've only run my propane genny a few times but with a tank change I put my unlit propane torch in air filter to get it going.
