My son and I took a quick trip to the cabin to get the floor laid. It really brings the room together I think. I am trying to get everything done by Columbus Day as we are having a family gathering here at our camp. My brother is coming with his family in their camper, my sister is towing her teardrop, parents and aunt and uncle are getting a hotel but that’s ok. I am excited for the mini family reunion as we haven’t all been together in 5-6 years.

Looks great, and nice to see somebody getting something done around here! With lumber prices back to reasonable I figured we'd see more building this summer.

Nice work! Any finish on the pine? We have 6" pine flooring that has held up surprisingly well with just a few coats of urethane.

Have you considered floor protection in front of the woodstove? Hearth pads are a quick and inexpensive option. https://friendlyfires.ca/products/wood-stove-hearth-pad-cheap/

Thank for the complements everyone. I am very happy with home it turned out. Now I can focus on my barn that I want to build. My wife said I couldn’t build it until I finished the cabin.

It’s a gas burner so no need for the protection.

No finish yet, will get tung oil next trip

Lol!
My wife wouldnt let me start to build our toolshed/workshop/material storage building at all.
She bought me a prebuilt mini-barn instead .
Still, it took about a week worth of ground prep and cutting back jack pines to be able to bring it in; real bull-work in high temps but got it done.
I expect the honey-do list part is gonna bite me soon

Looks Good! We have red fir planking with 2 coats of urethane. It really pops with a coat of floor wax on it.

Wow nice... your counter top space plus your fine table and half your mat is the size of our cabin...

Thanks! I love them too, lots of natural light in that room, I almost installed a third in the line on the long wall but I saved it in case one gets broken. I believe the fridge is from around 1948.
