We have a remote cabin. Fly in during the non frozen months n snogos the frozen ones. Not all unusual in these parts as folks are into the outdoors n winter activities.
Being remote brings a whole nother game to the table. And our major concerns are bears breaking in. Tons of snow up to your chin n earthquakes. Cabins need to be built tough. And usually bring on their own building techniques. Frozen tundra, muskkeg n everything in between or mountains kinda describes the ground.
Makes for some interesting builds but hey folks are getting out. And that's the main reason for them.
For us we start on a trail that just gets smaller until there isn't one. Chainsaw n snowshoes are normal snogos bling.
Cabin life, easy to get hole up for an extra week or so if a cold spell hits. My limit is -25 normally but if I have traps out you gotta go. I can still remember how concerned I was about the last time. So cold I was concerned about freezing my eyeballs and so humid the fog n frost made seeing very hard. I had a hard time finding my snogo after I got out of the woods. Hey it happens fast and not unusual so ya need to be ready.
Seeing the lantern glowing on the front porch. And getting back to the cabin can feel real nice. Stoke the fire n sit back n watch the evening show. Our stove works well so we can have the door opened n watch the fire. A little bit I learned was to stack the wood in perpendicular to the door so when the sap in the knots blows it stays in the stove, we have a screen also.
We have a couple new young ones in our home now. I am looking forward to helping them learn more about the outdoors and spending time at our cabin.
Yeppers looking forward towards winter n getting out to the cabin.

Yeah NorthRick and me have the same problem. Which can turn into a real serious problem fast just trying to get in or out of the cabin. Heck just stopping to pee don't step off the snogos
And cabins around these parts get there foundation n framing stress tested often enough with big quakes. The snow got my woodshed finally and will probably finish the job this year. Oh well, Ak cabin life
