The Canadian ground hog Wiarton Willy , came out this morning , didn't see his shadow and predicted an early spring. Glad to hear this, We have actually had a pretty good winter. But look forward to spring. Checked my bee hives the other day , they were almost completely covered with snow. I guess it will keep them warmer. old243

So, if they see their shadow its 6 more weeks of winter, if they dont its a month and a half?

I'm in Alaska it's at least 6 more weeks of winter whether or not the ground hog sees his shadow. I'd say the closest critter we have to a ground hog would be a marmot. They won't even come out of hibernation for another couple of months.

Yeah Rick. At least 6 weeks. But most folks kinda think that 25-30 above is t shirt weather.
How's the snow up north. Lots of plugged trail around ? Suspect 4-6' of sugar snow under a crust. Crazy overflow conditions everywhere. Eh Have a great time

I'm with the ground hog that popped out and promptly died... That's how I feel about winter....
Maybe my going out to try & start the truck in -30 and having it frozen solid (only a groan from starter) has something to do with my thinking... dunno....
