And perfect weather here in south-central Wisconsin for the cabin!
We've been doing day trips and got an early start on the spring clean up, etc, so we can actually get some r&r time now.
The new to us (end of last Sept) JD1025R sure made a diff on how much bull work we could do. We now have the FEL, a real pallet fork attachment, rear rotary 'brush hog' mower, back blade, 650# rear ballast wt and 3PH hd hitch. The slash pile is already as big as what took all last year to make.
Now I can just play (yeah, right, lol).
We do have a couple nice big windows to put in for when we cant sit on the deck.
And this, that and the other thing......
Yep, Im ready for a long weekend

Cabin Time! Can’t beat it!
Colorado here. Have the Canadian fires effected you as much as us? Until the rains yesterday. I could not see the mountains 20 miles away.
They must be huge.
Have fun with your new toy.

A few days ago the total was coming up on a million acres so far this year from what I have read. A week or so ago Calgary had the worst air pollution in the world.

I have been smelling/tasting smoke, and some coughing, my mild COPD affected, some haze too.
Now we have a local big deal fire going on at the local county recycle center.....
Our news mentions air quality due to 'the fires' but nothing more. Dismal 'reporting'.

They do make it so easy it dosnt feel like work.
No R and R going on here. I can do that when my body starts shutting down. I mixed 8400lbs of concrete last weekend and moved 3/4 of those bags 2x. This weekend is girders, floor joists and framing walls in preparation for having 10 days off early next month.

If only I was 40 years younger.....I was 30 in 1983 when we started our 1st cabin build. Unemployed, had some money cushion, lumber from a 1897 barn I tore apart, tools and some skills. Went at it like it sounds you are; gangbusters!
Even now I typically work harder at the cabin than at home and feel good about it though wife says I need to 'enjoy it' more. Guess she doesnt quite realize I am.

Heading to our cabin around noon today, have been looking forward to the long weekend for a while now.....Work is really getting in my way!
As always have some projects to get done, but also going to spend some time out on the side by sides and do a little fishing in the lake.....
Hope everyone enjoys the holiday and we'll be back next week!

When I was at the cabin a couple weeks ago I swear with our JD 1025R I did more grunt work in two or three days than I could normally do in a week! Loving that tractor!
My shoulder surgery went well last week and though there is still a bit of pain on occasion, I'm released to get back at it.... with limits, like nothing over 10# away from my body for another couple weeks. Pretty much full range of motion so I'm pleased. Way less pain where it was hurting!
Sunday we will move back to Colorado. Going to try to squeeze in between the weekend warrior travel days. Figure Sunday will likely be the least7 traveled. Will be good to get back up there!

We have a 4x4 rubber tired backhoe for the weekend. 3 days for price of one. Going to finish up landscaping at our new house. Son is digging a new foundation to expand their home. And daughter has a bunch of brush to bury.
Really nice that we are neighbors and can help each other out like this. Doesn't matter who's house or what they are doing there is good help next door. I do need a get some canoe time in with my beautiful wife

We got home about 5:30 yesterday (only a 45min drive), turned on the elec water heater, made tacos for supper and had a Long HOT shower. I guess our home livin is pretty much like many do for cottage/cabin livin, lol.
We dont have an on demand water heater, just a regular 30gal elec that I turn on/off at will with a switch-box, this means that it only runs 1-3 hrs of a typical day and is off whenever gone longish. This works fine for the two of us, recovery time is fast and the 30gal is plenty enough for 2 good showers.
We rocked it at the cabin! The tools and equipment upgrade made us sooo much more efficient. That meant we could have a leisurely morning, do some putter work, take a coffee/critter &bird watch break, do some more stuff, lunch, etc. and on to similar afternoons.
Def spent a lot more time in R&R than we have for a while and still accomplished far more than we expected. The slash and clear burn pile is now even bigger....The 'kick-back' of the woods to the west makes me feel better about the fire mitigation as well as provide a great view back into the woods.
Think we smelled a fox one night, maybe under the floor looking for rabbits. A pileated woodpecker, the 1st we've seen there, flew by several times and the ravens were talking up a storm. A pair of raven branchers were fledging, a rare treat to see, and not particularly fearful of us. The nest is just to the west of the cabin 100yd or so. The bluebirds at the meadow (s, e, and n of the cabin) have their 1st brood fledging also and the big birdbath is a happy place, so glad we took it up there and have it 20ish yards from the front east deck.
Next trip is too far away!

The other surprise was we didnt run the gen at all; still had all the lights we wanted/needed, made toast off the bat/inv, and watched a movie with the old elec hog tube tv/vcr combo. The 100ah lfp kept chugging along powering all at 120vac through the little psw 300w inv. until 2/3 way through the movie Sun night (it went down pretty quick from 13.1v to the lvd while Under Load. Iirc it is 11.5v, now I Know it works!). We've had that bat wired in since our 1st visit early spring after freezing was mostly over; a pretty good run (no solar, no recharging at all).
Swapped in the other fully charged (13.4v) bat, it will be interesting to see where that one trips out on lvd.
Btw, once the lvd trips the bat bms needs a quick jumpered hook up to a charged bat (I used the fresh one) to reactivate. With that, and a rest, it read 12.5v. That would have run the led lights for a good bit yet, certainly the usb port charger, and maybe the fan some. If we had not wanted to finish the movie and toast with b-fast I would have just jump reactivated it and left it hooked up. If the lvd had tripped under just led light(s) use it for sure would be 'flat'. I should hook up a 25w 12v incandescent rv bulb and see how many hours I can get before it trips the lvd again.
