I'll be howling myself. Sitting by the campfire.
I'm going to get a big load of lumber and get back to Ely on Mon. We should have the walls and trusses up and maybe roof sheathed if we do as good as yesterday.
Have fun, chat when you get back. Pics. for sure.

Cabin was great, Dave, thanks for asking. We had 13 of us there. Now, I need to recuperate

That extra day is so nice...wish all weekends were 3 days!

Wow! did they all stay overnight? Who cooked? Not you for all I hope.
I'm surprised you came up to WI Point. It's cold by the lake. Isn't it. As far as the mud, we had a lot of rain lately. The blue water is on the North Shore.

Thanks purplerules! It was fun and yes, our little snickerdoodle is the best!

Owen, yep they all stayed two nights. It was fun! We all kinda took turns with meals and helping to prepare them. That makes it much more enjoyable. Our oldest son turned 29 on Sunday and his daughter turned 4 yesterday. Didn't one of your grandchildren have a birthday, too?

I'll write more later...kids arriving....

We're always having birthdays with nine grandkids and the eight parents, along with the two old people, it's always something.
Your get together sounds like it went well. We packed a lot into the last five days, putting on about 600 miles of driving, building, rest at our cabin, bike riding. didn't see the grandkids though. The oldest is 13 now and will go to work with me after next week. He's good with a finish nailer and knotty pine. He way outgrew his dirtbike and I told him if he pays for half, I'd come up with the other. I had his mother work with me yesterday. I have a lot of lawnmowers to fix the week to make up for my time off. I hope you have pics. from this weekend.

Busy day! People coming and going all day long...

Sounds like a very busy weekend for you, Owen. I'm glad you got to relax at your cabin.

When we arrived Friday night, we pulled in to see a deer greet us and before the first car door was even opened we could hear the spring peepers and one croaking toad. They were so loud! Right back in the pond-we never have heard them before the pond was dug. It is awesome! The full moon was out which also was admired over the top of the pond. The pond itself was even more of an overflowed and uncontained body of water than last trip up, but at least it wasn't backing up under the cabin. We began the process of creating an outlet for overflow but it now needs to dry up a bit so the tractor tires grip better. It will get there.

We finally got the outhouse shingled! It was tar paper for longer than I care to admit. That feels good...now for siding someday.

We started to clean out the bunkhouse. It has become a catch-all for all sorts of things that we still need for building, but no longer have room for in the cabin-like the scaffolding. We will convert half into a bath house and the other half will remain storage. Amazing the amount of stuff that was hidden in there.

The rest of the weekend was spent visiting and hanging out. We went to the beach and although it was very cold, we still had fun flying kites, listening to the sound of the waves, feeding the gulls and soaking up some sun. We ate well, had a bonfire, made smores and listened to the coyotes. I got in some hammock time with Noelle and the grandkids. We had plenty of room for everyone to sleep comfortably and I hope a good time was had by all.

I will post pics when I am able to get them on the computer.

Thank you, naturelover
This past weekend Noelle had her bath in the galvanized tub, as did two of the grandkids. They all looked so cute and were happy to sit and play and my kitchen floor got a cleaning too!

You should hear the frogs and toads outside tonight....they sound quite happy. We had a thunderstorm earlier and once the rain stopped they all started singing....with their own unique voices. It's a chorus of sounds, for sure bravo, bravo!

I'm still too lazy to go put the pictures from the weekend on the desktop. Long, busy days followed by tiring evenings are taking it's toll. I'm feeling much like a zombie tonight! I hope tomorrow is a better day and that by the end I do have the desire to transfer pictures. We shall see

The lake looks like chocolate milk from the large amounts of rain. I've seen it like this before a couple times. We go to Wi. Point a lot. It is closer and less busy. I like the variety of beaches to choose from-sandy or rocky. Each has a different beauty. Wi. Point is fun to walk when the snow and ice melts because it is cool to see what all washed up on shore. There is tons of driftwood-also a lot of sea glass.

I love the sounds the pond has provided!

Thanks guys. I love having the kids and grandkids up. My son with the other two grandboys wasn't able to come. There was a sudden death in his wife's family Friday night. Very sad news. I've been watching the boys all week-
My pregnant daughter was up with her husband. She was 3 weeks away from her due date, so we were glad we didn't have to boil water! lol.

It is fun to get the gang together-missed our 4 kids that couldn't come.

Thank you, Shotgun. If only they were always smiling....lol.

My daughter is very close to giving birth and I'm so excited. She was at the Dr. today and it won't be too much longer. She is pretty uncomfortable these days. She will be having a boy, so we will have 1 granddaughter and 4 grandsons! Adding up quick!

Thank you. I'm getting pretty nervous as it approaches. I really hope everything goes smoothly. She had a hard time getting pregnant-needed a little fertility help stimulating egg production, and then she developed gestational diabetes. I am extremely proud of how she has managed and it has been a joy watching her take in all the wonders of her pregnancy. I always enjoyed being pregnant and it is fun seeing her enjoy it too It was very difficult for me when I had to tell her that I was pregnant, because I knew they were trying so hard, and for us it was completely unexpected. She was always very supportive of us, even though I knew it was very hard for her. Makes me tear up thinking about it. I can't wait to see her son in her arms.

Noelle has a nephew 8 weeks younger than her, too. Our grandson, Grayson, was born in February. They lay together and they grasp each others hand. It is cute. I remember when our triplets were babies, no matter how far apart we would spread them out, they always ended right back against each other. They comforted each other. Noelle and this new little nephew will be close too. It is a comfort to me knowing that she will have our grandchildren to play with since she won't have siblings close in age. It is an odd but wonderful situation. A little confusing, but I wouldn't change it for the world!

Hope you all have a ridiculously amazing day

That it is
Waiting for my ears to thaw. Just got home from a walk-only second one this week due to rain. It's chilly out because the wind is whipping out of the north, but I'm glad I made it back before it rains AGAIN! The other night I got caught in it.

Had a nice visit with a neighbor. He was out spraying poison ivy with bleach and vinegar. Claims it works. I also noticed 4 of my flowering crab trees are dead that really bums me out. They were finally getting big!

I wonder what happened to them. I've never seen poison ivy around here, but I know there is some way out on Park Point. It's foggy and wet here today. Yuck.
