You've heard the expression "a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush"....hmmm....I'm thinking a grouse in the hand is worth a grouse in the pot. *S* 'cept this grouse, dubbed "the supervisor" has turned into a guard grouse. Whenever anyone comes on the property of one of the neighbours up the mountain, he attacks. He's a mean so and so. I thought maybe he had a mate nearby, but the property owner said he's never seen one and the male has been around all winter. Hmph, with an attitude like he has, he'll never find a mate. *LOL*

Here are a few pictures I took this morning. It rained over night so I walked in 1 mile and was a pleasant walk.
Here is a picture of one apple tree I planted a week ago. I placed it in a natural water way hoping it would collect more run off. It sure does look out of place with all the cedars. The choke cherry and plums tree's are looking good and these are wild of course.

Here is a picture of a train bridge 2 miles away and there is some paddle fisherman there trying there luck. I don't know if you can see them but some are walking the bridge to get to the other side to catch the big one!! This track goes through a mountain on the other side.

I just started looking at this site this AM. I really enjoyed the photos...especially all the fawns. I really need to go up to the cabin...get up early...and go out and sit in the woods...waiting for my first glimpse of nature and get some photographs. I have been inspired by this site!
I guess I really need a DSLR and telephoto lens for the really good photos. I'll try some with my little Nikon Coolpix and go from there. I'd love to photograph a bobcat or owl or something really unusual in our area....but not a Grizzly!

Was out on Saturday with the local 4x4 group cleaning up the trail and my reward was a sighting of Bullwinkle! (or maybe Mrs. Bullwinkle)

Spent the night at the shack and had a great time!! I read till 11:00 and got up early to do some fishing. Not sure if yoiu can tell in the picture but the haze is smoke from fires. The sun looks like it has clouds but it is smoke. It is really bad around here. Some of it is coming down from Canada.
