I am not sure if somebody mentioned already a cabin build from steel insulated panels.

I ordered a 8'x'12' cabin from the following company.

http://www.thermalmodularbuildings.ca/

I like construction work, but I am busy with other projects right now. So I decided to order the cabin. The cabin will be build based on my drawings. It will have 2 windows and a 32" door. I selected the 3" walls. The 3" walls can provide close to R24 insulation. The current estimate for the final cabin is about $5000 including tax. But it includes really everything from the gravel foundation to the full assembly and delivery. Of course you can save about 20% if you assemble it and build your own foundation.

We have the cabin for 6 month now. We paid less, because the panels they used had some colour issues. We have the same colour on the front and back, but the sides are in a different shade of grey. The colour issue is not a big problem, because we could paint the cabin at anytime.

We really like the cabin. During the summer it was not to hot inside, because of the good insulation. If you open the windows it cools down very nicely over night. It is end of October now and we are still sleeping in the cabin without heating. The night temperatures have been down to +3C. 2 weeks ago the cabin survived a heavy storm without any problems. It seems to be a very sturdy structure.

Overall a good buy. I would recommend this type of building material.

Thanks for the update.
The web link doesn't work.
Would love to see your cabin - post a pic or two!

Wanderer, are they still in business? The site is down. Love to see some photos and to get a phone number if you have it handy.

I didn't talk to owner of the business for a few months. I believe they are still in business. Below is a different link. The top picture on the website is the cabin during the assembly in the workshop. The phone number is on the website. The link I posted before had some more pictures from different other projects and a better description about the panel pricing. Maybe you can try the other link in a few days again.

Those panels look to be pretty easy to build with. Can you suggest a link that shows the cost of the panels if a guy were to order JUST panels? Are there connection fittings available??

They also cut the panels for you based on your specification. Also you can get all the required materials from them. Unfortunately the website http://www.thermalmodularbuildings.ca is down right now. The website contained the pricing per square foot. The panels are available from a 2" to a 6" insulation. If I remember correctly the 3" panels I used for my cabin have been around $3 per square foot. The price for my cabin pre-cut was $2800 (3") + tax. The same cabin with the 2" foam insulation would have been $2600 + tax. The windows, door, assembly and delivery was extra.
