Our Jotul's have a norse ship on the side of them, and a sun on the angled back.

Great find. I like cast iron stoves. I have a boxwood style like that in my garage.

I see 601 on it but it does not look like a Jotul 601.

not sure of the type, but love the side pictures

we got ours on CL....tall and skinny and cast iron.

Ours has a picture of a beaver on the front, which is perfect in Canada being the animal symbol of the country....and funny apparently if you have a house full of boys.

They wanted to call our place beaver camp in light of the stove.

I rarely put my foot down, but did that time

The riveted tag on the front should have safety information, the metal under the firebox is a heat shield, the miner in the side all put together and make this a late to mid 1970's box stove typically made in Taiwan....it should also have removable internal firebox cast iron side heat shields and an upper baffle that would cause smoke to be drawn in from the front of the stove and exit out the rear or upper rear, looks like yours exits directly out the rear but the top plate can be removed and you can make it so it exits from the top of the stove if you wish.
A good stove regardless!

we dont know Rob_O-we are headed to pick it up this weekend.i was wanting to pre look it up on line but did not know what kind it is to look in the right direction.i wanted to see if it was brick lined and how much they paid for it but did not want to ask the givers this question cause it seems tacky to ask.so i thought maybe if i asked some of u cabin dwellers, maybe u would know.
