I think Eustics taxes are low, its timberland and he should get a nice break for it all.

I find myself dozing, tough for me to stay up that late. Missed most of it, will try again later in the week.

I hate to bust everybodys bubble here but a lot of these shows are scripted. As a example google "Gold rush alaska forum". It is well documented what goes on. Also these people aren't recorded for free. First season they usually make 100,000+ and up to a million for after the first season. I watch for entertainment value only and don't believe everything I see. I love the alaska shows because of their beauty.
The hippy in the mountains makes me laugh. The old guy in Montana sure drives a nice truck for a mountain man, so he has to have some other job. Rancher? I worked for some ranchers like him. The alaska guy I think is as portrade. I have relatives in alaska and a lot of the people are like him. You have to be tough to make it there all year.

As for the Alaskan trapper, he may not have had a rifle during his inspection of his trapline, but I would bet that the video crew with him were armed. Remember, the show is not a documentary, but entertainment. Real life is always disguised in the name of entertainment

I agree here! These guys act like their life is gonna end in the next hour if they don't walk faster to get to the house, when actually there is probably a warming truck 20 ft behind the camera for the guys to get a cup of coffee...I have been part of a TV show and know how everything is staged to make it perfect for TV....6 hrs of acting for 20 mins of show!

Already know that. Not totally scripted, but modifed to make the show interesting.

The guy in Montana, that isnt a nice truck, its an old Dodge from the 80's or early 90's. He does has electricity and phone. He is on the grid.

oh my word.i just watched a video of Eustace canning some dried deer ribs .he cut them up and put them in a big pot on his stove.the ending result was a brown horrid looking glop...i think the end result is to be used for a broth in soups.at least i pray so.
he took some sinew off the dried meat and bones to take the time to use this for thread to sew on his shirts button.pretty cool.
but watching his canning methods made me shudder.lol.he had sort of dirty looking hands, and he got a creepy little rag that looked dirty to wipe off the canning jar lids.ha ha ha...

hmmm...Wish I could get this show on our History Channel here. We must get a Canadian version of History Channel or something because it isn't listed anywhere. *sigh* I did watch one version online and it looks like a really good show.

I spend a lot of time in the high country & river breaks. There is always danger around every corner and I can relate to the show in many ways. It is a full time job to survive for Marty in AL. Interesting show!!!!!!!!!!

cabingal3...I really liked the series program...Pioneer House or was it Pilgrim House?? We knew they we placed on the set, but they had to learn and work the land...I liked learning what new old way they were doing things.... Mountain Men just seems like they are trying to hard and mixing mixing false drama into the mix....anyway just my opinion and I confess I do still have it recording so I may sneak a peek to see whats happening becasue it is better than watching the Kardashians!!

Lol. Cabin is my mantra too. It's what all these hard years of work are for. It's sure is nice to know we have a special place. Not everybody does. I think that is what is missing in many lives and what many are searching for.

Hi silverwaterlady.i dont mind a bit of lite entertainment from time to time.
and trollbrigde,i dont want to spend good earned monies that could go for the cabin on movies.
when i get money,i buy lumber.
but i am not against others going to a movie of this sort.
just not me.
i dont talk about sex or anything related to sex on line.its just a scary day and age is why.
i think i am so blessed to have a cabin in our woods.
i think u are right silverwaterlady,i think the woods is what alot of people are missing.some wonderful place to be,where it is so quiet with nature.
