Ok, after a lot of consideration I think I have made up my mind. Any feedbacks to my plans is appreciated, my first cabin so I can use all the help I can get. I have been around this site for awhile, and its a very helpful forum. I don't have anyone I can run my plans by, so everyone's feedback is so helpful.
I have decided to go with 8' oc piers, so 3 rows of 4 piers. Going with the bigfoot footers & 8"x8" sono tubes, bringing them up 12", and down 3'. Going with 3-2x8s for the beams at 16' & 8' with staggered joints. 2x8s for the joist which will sit ontop of the beams. I will use PT for beams and joists. I have weighted the cost of going with 2 rows of piers and using 2x12s. Price came out slightly cheaper going with 12 piers...concrete is cheap, just more labor. And, I am looking forward to the labor, plenty of time off & ready to break ground. Question, do those sono tubes hold moisture? In MO, and we are DRY! Worried to dig with the ground this dry, will it suck the mostiure out of my tubes? Don't want my concrete to cure to quickly. Also, I was thinking of skipping the bigfoot footers for my middle row, and just pour footers directly in the ground...but again with the gound this dry worried that won't work. As of now I thinking of using creek rock and building that up around the perimeter, a nice visual. I will insulate my floor to ensure we stay warm in the winter.
Anyone see holes in this foundation plan? Wanting to bring down the last 2 dead trees this weekend, and get started!
