Keep feeling like I overpaid ! we bought 1 Acre this spring with a 10 x 16 shed . I am able to convert it into a cabin under the radar. It's what's nearly that sold us. we drive 10mins to our small town that time forgot , walk on the ferry and we are in Kingston ON. We can ride our bikes for hours amongst fields . The migrating birds are fantastic and the island is very quiet at night. saving the best to last we can visit one of the quietest beaches on lake Ontario in minutes. all this was $18,000.

2011 just about 12 acres for $20,000 in NW lower Michigan between Traverse City and Gaylord. We are attached to state land on 2 sides of the property. In the snow belt (which we love) with 160" avg per year. Have the snow/ATV trails in that state land area so we can hit the trails without having to use any road. Dozen large lakes in the area all with pubic access with one a mile from our drive. At the time the guy was asking $35k which I know was high but I'm very happy with or deal.

2009 1 acre virgin wooded land waterfront on a small lake 20 mins north of Saint John NB - $20,000. 2011 - 5 acres on an island in the Bay of Fundy - $50,000 (possibly trading it for 15 acres ocean front with a beach with the local nature trust people). I will build my home on the island and keep my camp - about 45 minute drive plus half hour free ferry ride!

Bought everything already at the cabin including 2 riding lawnmowers, a Honda ATV, 6 cords of fire wood, building lumber, tools and so on... total turn key occupation. 3 km un-maintained road from the main road to the our locked gate and another 0.5 km to the cabin from the locked gate. Surrounding properties all natural hardwood and coniferous forest... no farm land.

Interesting. The OP never posted as he/she promised. Be careful, folks. Too much "data collection" and info abuse going on.

No biggie Julie. The OP posted his info right after he started the thread. Stay warm. Looks like it's gonna be 60 degrees here in KY for Christmas.

We bought just over 5 acres in upper East Tennessee in November 2001 for $4,500. Now have a small (12x16) cabin plus a 12x6 porch. Annual taxes run around $60 a year. Property is all woods except for the area where the cabin stands. The highest elevation has a 360 degree view of the valley below and mountain range in the distance. Nothing but peace and quiet.

In the 70's my parents bought 10.5 acres of wooded land in northern Utah for around $6,000. Eventually my mom sold it to me for about the same. We have a nice camp, outhouse, shower & trailer. I could sell it for 50k, but never would! Annual tax under $6.
