Well I have been checking out this site for a while now getting different ideas and we finally started on our cabin this past weekend. We own about 200 acres of mostly flat wooded land so decided to build a little place we could go relax and not have to worry about driving to hunt.
12x16 with full loft (probably 12x12 pitch on roof)
We worked Saturday for about 3 hours and got all of the posts set, the joists in, and the Advantech set.
Went back on Sunday for about 3 more hours and got 2 walls up and was 1 stud short of getting the back wall up in the rain. Going to pick up a few more supplies this week and finish the walls up this Sunday (going to the UT/Georgia game so can't work Saturday). The trusses should be finished and ready to hang by next week so hopefully we'll be able to get the tin on all in the same day.
Also at the bottom is the before/after pictures of the wood stove we bought for it. A friend of my brother in law sold it to him for $75 and we sanded it down really good and painted it.

looks good .
make sure you lite a big fire in that stove before you put it in the cabin . burn off the stove black . i lit mine outside and let it burn and when i put it in the cabin it still filled the cabin full of smoke .

The only chance we get to work on it is weekends and most of those days have been plagued with rain so it has been hard finding time to work.
We got all of the walls up and wrapped last Friday.
We were able to work a couple hours yesterday and got the joists put in for the loft and two of the extension walls built.
Worked about 5 hours today and got the walls up and the trusses hung. Hopefully we can get the loft completely closed in with tin on tomorrow.
We put a lot of thought into how we could get the most usable space out of our loft and decided to go with this: We kept our ceiling height at standard and just built a three foot extension wall to go on top of that once we got the loft floor built. We then went with a 12x12 pitch for the trusses which allowed us to have a 6' 2" for 7 ft in the middle before it starts decreasing toward the walls. This made our outside wall's height 12 ft so we didn't have to waste any OSB, just cut them in half. It cost a little more to do it this way but it will be well worth it in the long run being able to put the beds in the loft and not having to worry about ducking our heads upstairs.
Here's some more pics of the progress. Hopefully I'll be able to post some of it completely dried in by tomorrow evening.
Ps. Thanks for the tip about the stove. I didn't even think about that

We got 1 side finished with the tin on it but ended up being 2 pieces short for the other side because we didn't add in for the over hang. Also, got the first run of OSB and tar paper on the other side started.

Looking good Backwoods, I too am building (spring) a 12x16 cabin on our property in NM. I look forward to more pics of your structure for ideas on our build. Thanks for sharring.
