We drive a Chevy HHR...yep it's ugly, yep it's kinda dorky, but it gets 35 MPG to and from the cabin and we can stuff it full because the back seats fold flat! I can also hold 10 sheats of plywood on the roof and the roof only bows in a few inches! LOL

my camp ride is a ole 1974 fj40 landcruiser.....
still have not painted my doors / metal top to match the body.....

T/H, those are highly desirable rigs, worth loads of dough. Even in rough shape. (I'm a Toyota dealer tech for 24+ yrs)

Thanks----i love driving it to town or down to camp.....i always wanted one back in the late 70's....i bought this one and restored it about 4 years ago......
my wife drives the newer model the "fjcruiser" which is a super nice ride.
and i drive the new bodystyle Tacoma 4 x 4 ~~~~4 door longbed....love them YOTA's...

I drive an 02 Jeep Liberty Sport 4x4 and the Mrs drives a 2011 Jeep Patriot Latitude X 4x4. She averaging 23 mpg daily. Last trip to the UP we averaged 27 mpg. Great little vehicle if you need 4x4 and don't like giving $$$ to the oil companies.

Montanagirl, love your Willy's truck! I had one years ago, I'd like to get another one some day.
Is yours updated with newer driveline? Mine was all original, but if I did it again, I'd want a newer engine/transmission and other driveline parts (like disc brakes!) power stearing, a good heater, and AC.
I drive an older Suburban. Its good for a lot of things, but fuel mileage isn't one of them (14 mpg avarage). Would like to get a mini van for going to town and other stuff I really don't need the Suburban for. Neighbors have one, its amazing what all they've hauled in them, and fairly cheap to drive.

I have the 93 Geo Metro for every day and the 90 Trans Am GTA for when I want to see dollar bills go out the tale pipe and the 94 Saturn wagon as a backup for both.

Actually, I got the Raptor in December 2011. Then I realized I needed a place to take it off road, which led me to find a cabin on 150 acres in WV.

It is! It has a small block chevy with auto transmission and power steering. Also an aftermarket electric heater. I can't take credit for any of it except writing the check to buy it. LOL. I like stock, but it came this way and I have to admit, power steering is great! My dad owned a Willys Wagon when I was little. I have some great memories of driving to the cabin in it (although with the stock hurricane engine I think top speed was about 50 mph).

Ha! Mine had the SUPER Hurricane motor! It would do a good 55 mph, if it wasn't uphill at all. That was pretty much standing on it, pedal to the floor. They shure would tool around in the hills well though! The suspension was waaay too stiff, it had enough springs for a logging truck.
The wagons are cool, they would be good for a backwoods rig, and perhaps one could build a bunk in it. I like being able to sleep in my vehicles when out in the hills.
Thanks for the Willys forum link, I'll go look. It may be the beginning of a bad habit.
