Can't wait to get there.
We will spend our time snow shoeing, ice fishing, snowmobiling and bringing in the New Year in the Hot tub.

I so wish I was headed to the cabin but there is no way my family would go for that. Just too much fun and tradition at home.

We will visit the Shabin, unfortunately we will not be staying there. The building is still in the construction phase and is more of an uninsulated storage shed for tools and materials.

I asked our kids if they'd like to go up the property and celebrate Xmas at camp...they said NO!

So, I'm going to take a trip up this coming week and check in on the place. I've been absent for going on a month...I miss it badly!

We are going to the cabin for Christmas!! I am so excited! This will be our first time spending the holiday there (went up the day after last year.) We're headed up on the 23rd...with the truck PACKED with gifts, decor, food, ski gear, etc. We'll have to pack everything in on snowshoes so we have already warned the kids that we're having a "minimalist" Christmas this year. Even so, it's going to be quite the challenge to smuggle in the gifts/stocking stuffers unseen and to haul in all the fixings for Christmas dinner, etc. I plan to spend this week wrapping, packing and organizing.

While we are there, I am looking forward to doing a whole lot of NOTHING! Reading, playing games, napping, etc. We'll probably ski one or two days. I have not been cleared by the orthopedist to ski after my knee injury but he said it's ok for me to snowboard. So...I'm going to try out the bunny slope and see how it feels. Wish me luck!

SOOOOO fabulous!! Can you tell me how it works and what kind of upkeep it requires?

Our kids didn't get the choice. They often protest when we go, but once we get there, they love it. They are lukewarm on spending Christmas there...but I think it will end up being a rousing success.

Montanan.
There is very little upkeep to an Alumitub hot tub. The only thing that really is required is access to about 550 gallons of water. Fill the tub and start the fire.
We drain ours after every cabin stay. With my pump it only takes about 10 minutes to drain, then give it all a quick wipe. We have even filled and used our tub at -40C. In the summer it takes about 4 hours to get to temp and about 6 hours in the winter. After it is at temp it does not require much wood to maintain it.
I will forward a link to their website. They are located in Seachelt B.C.

if they plow the hiways between now and when we go.it will be great.then we have to try and get to our cabin.our dear neighbor told us we could use his anitque tractor with a plow on it to get to our cabin.hes such a great old fella.

Oh my. I am glad not to be out there right now. Do you carry chains and use them? You are in a beautiful part of the country. I love getting a load to Portland it is one of my favorate places. We keep a good eye on the weather this time of the year. If the chain law is in effect we sit it out. To many drivers have been killed by other drivers as they installed and removed chains. I think if the roads are that bad I don't want to be on them because of the drivers that just won't slow down.
