I have a similar setup a 55 gallon barrel that goes down a hill about say 20 feet of head then obviously back up to the shower head which is about 6ft. The pressure was decent but nothing strong.I want to ad one of the ecotemp heaters to this system and Im thinking i would need a shurflo pump..can anyone reccomend what series they use? marine or rv? And will this pump automatically start when the tap starts.. or would you need to connect the pump everytime you use the shower. The reason i think i may need a pump is because i tried my coleman hot water heater in this setup and it didnt work, barely any water came out. Thanks

I'm using this:

with an Eccotemp L5. It is probably a bit overkill but I plan to use it in my cabin once we get that built. Currently just running the L5 in an outdoor shower. Beware the ground squirrels, they will chew the wires off.
It does shut off when the shower head is turned off. It is a pretty standard RV part. If you have any leaks in the line after the pump it will pump, pause, pump, pause, etc.

If you are concerned about this then use an rv/marine faucet with a built in micro-switch such as Whale Faucet. You bypass the pressure switch in the pump (or don't - works either way) and the pump is activated when you turn on the tap. This adds a slight bit of complexity to the wiring (especially if you have a long distance between the tap and the pump) but does eliminate any concerns of a continuous on-off pumping if things spring a leak. In my case I'm using a relay at the pump with the wires from the tap activating the relay - pump.

I just seen a flojet 50 p.s.i 2.9 gpm so basically the same but the big difference is this one is 4.4 amps compared to the shurflo at 7.5..
Why so much more amperage wouldn't the shurflo be way harder on the battery?

I wonder about the amp ratings. I'm going to measure mine under load when I get it hooked back up this spring. Yes lower always better. It seems odd that 5 more psi and .5 more gpm would 'require' that much more juice. Maybe the owners manual will list amp requirements for certain amounts of lift.

I have been using a Bosch for the last four years, and it is the bees knees.
For security I opted for the model that goes outside. I hung it on the back of my cabin and plumbed it through the wall. It runs on a 20 lb tank and can be removed in less than three minutes. It has its own internal heaters, but since we are off grid,we have no power, so when it freezes overnight, I just pull it off the wall and bring it inside to prevent possible damage. It weighs about 50 lbs. Fortunately, it only gets that cold occasionally.
It will take water from a tank that is only a few degrees above freezing and get it hot enough for a steamy shower or a sink of dishes. In the summer you need to turn it way down. It even lights itself without power using the water flow.
It was pricey, about $800, but it has worked perfectly for the last four years.

Does anyone know where to get the marey in Canada..I've decided on that one because of their 5 year warranty but they want like 100 to ship it. If I can't find it ill go with the Ecco temp or eztankless..

You could possibly use a service like Kinek to get an address at a US border crossing, ship the Marey there, then drive across pick it up and drive back? Gotta pay HST and possibly duty but you will save on the shipping fees and prob still come out ahead.
Not sure if this is an option for you...

i'm using the shurflo revolution. man that thing is quiet.
nice.
i pick my internet purchases at the ups store in ogdensburg ny. saves me hundreds in shipping and handling. plus i get a cheaper gas fill up and lunch at busters...

Nice creeky, I found that Kinek has a drop location in Ogdensburg which is ideal for me (our property is in Merrickville).
UPS is ok as a drop location but if you leave your package there too long their fees get a bit silly.
