We have a SNOTEL weather site about 4 miles from our place. Makes watching the weather pretty easy. -99.9 is bad data from a sensor. We have been getting a lot of that from the snow depth sensor. Last good read a few days ago was 10".

On the other side of things, the desert is about 55 during the day and 30 at night. Having lived back east, I still say this is the coldest I've ever been!

It's been about -10 C in the mornings when we get up and warms to about -7 C in the daytime. Not too much snow this year but we have one humdinger of an icicle forming in the courtyard. This photo was taken last week. It is much larger now. I think our dog is eyeing it to eat when it falls to the ground - she has this thing for icicles. *LOL*

We are hovering around 30F and lows in the 20's and from time to time in the teens in Northern Michigan. Snow fall is about 8 inches to well over a foot in some locations of the snow belt and lake effect snow fall. We are on the southern edge of the belt so we still get the effects but as they are tapering off. I will be heading up after work tonight to get the cabin toasty and my girlfriend and her friend will be bring the kids up for some sledding, snow tubing and skiing tomorrow. I hope to get up and do some Ice fishing next weekend or stay home and do some ice fishing. We are making good ice now.

Went up there last week. Took the snowmobiles. Got to within about 1/2 mile of the cabin and the machines got stuck. 3 feet of powder. 4 of the 5 of us walked the rest of the way to the cabin. The wife was to out of shape and didn't make it up there. Kids mostly had fun.

heavy snow, more than the last 2 years combined, winter warnings in effect for -20 F temperatures a couple times. right now its about 35 out (nice n toasty) and sunny. took advantage of the heatwave and walked 2 hours to a wifi hotspot in a gas station/resteraunt. will head out 2 hours before dark so i can get back in daylight.

set up an experimental snow melter before i headed out, i hope to get home to find 4 gallons of water ready.

Made it up last weekend for a brief visit and recycle the Christmas tree. It was darn cold at around 0-2 above, hit -2 at a couple low spots on the valley floor on the way in. A few inches of snow, but very light fluffy stuff, not the kind that has a lot of moisture (which we badly need!).

It is 60 degrees and overcast right now, but supposed to warm up into the 70's by Wednesday. Our Little House is now self-contained so we can use it without the RV. This is a winter house only as it is not isulated and will be miserable in the summer. I think I am up-side-down with everybody else on this forum! lizzie

Last week we got a BIG dump of snow here. For a day, the road into and out of town was closed as well as the mountain passes to get to the area. We're all cleaned up now though. Thank heavens for good neighbours with ploughs on their quads. *S* He dug us out a few times and did a mighty fine job of it too. It was really cold the other day at -21 C. It is a bit milder today at -14 C.

Our icicle is getting bigger and has joined up with the ground now. There is a big tunnel where it is joined to the roof - I call it our Hobbit hole. *LOL* We may need to try to knock it down soon because if it falls on its own, it might crack our window on the way down.

I stopped by my property yesterday and had to park at the end of the driveway because there was still about 15" of snow...carrying the 12V batteries 500ft up the driveway in that wasn't real fun.

I need a sled!

I was going to do a supply run to the cabin (cabin-to-be) yesterday but it was -36°C. Stuff just seems to break after -30 so it will have to wait until next weekend.

Here in Western Washington it has been a mild winter, now it has dipped for the past week to low 20's at night upper 30's in the day, no snow, no rain no wind just blaaah.
But I won't gripe too much since the last ten years we have gotten snow in April.

I noticed that we (north american society at least) seems to have turned the corner on global warming. The weather people keep saying "don't expect winters like we used to get anymore, those days are gone"

Have fun at your cabin cabingal3. Those long johns look nice and warm. You sure are talented!!!!

We've had unusually warm temps the last couple of weeks and a lot of our snow has melted. Today we woke up to snow and it is still coming down. Winter's not over yet.

The warm spell perked up our greenhouse nicely. Our seeds are starting to come up.
