Thanks Fishhog,

You mentioned you tested yours, I read it as that if you *did* put ventilation in you "were going to go vertical". So, do you just have it installed indoors, with no ventilation (some say its C02 is really no worse than what an old propane fridge or stove on full). I suspect if that's the case, you just have a window open when the unit is running? Did I understand you correctly?

Not to beat a dead horse, but I just want to be sure I understood.

exactly, installed as it comes out of the box inside my bathroom which is about 8'x8'.
I tested for CO while running and readings stayed at 0. But really the time it runs is minimal if your conservative. Get wet, shut water off and soap up. Turn water back on and rinse. In total its running for a few minutes per shower.
I have my window open, but more for moisture than CO at this point.
We ran it with 4 guys for 10 days with 0 issues or concerns.

Again, I wouldn't recommend having a nap in the shower, but otherwise, I'm very happy for a very simple system.

Lol..got it..no nap in shower ( may need to stress that point with my 14 year old son).

Our room is 7x12 so I'll try your approach and monitor C02. If it's an issue I can always reposition it outside, or vent it.

Thank you so much.

i use a $100 ecotemp shower unit inside a 12x8 room with a high ceiling. This is a back room of my cabin separate from the other rooms of the cabin. In the summer double doors are left open when the shower is in use. In the winter nights I am closed in but open the doors during the day. The short periods that i run the shower at night doesn't seem to cause me any problems. I believe I am more likely to pull dangerous gasses in the front room when cooking on the camp stove which I rarely do in the winter as I will more likely cook on the running wood stove in the winter.

*** Note*** Make sure that you blow clear all water lines of the unit after every use in the winter. I lost one unit when I was hit with a surprise hard freeze and the manifolds inside the unit froze over night. The unit was on an inside wall in the cabin so location didn't matter.

Greetings to all. I am looking for some info or advice on the pros and cons for hooking up my solar array in parallel due to the distance (100 ft) they will be away from my charge controller . I have 6 ,150w, 12 volt panels going to a out back 80 amp flow max mppt charge controller.

If that far away, and already owning a MPPT controller, you would want to hook them in series or series/parallel but not all parallel. If you did two strings of 3 panels in series, you'd need approx. #4 copper. One string, if your controller can accept the Voc under worst case conditions, you would need approx. #10 copper. I did make some assumptions about your panels there.

Thanks Mike 870, My charge controller can handle up to 150 volts dc, So should I do them all series or series parallel. If I do them in series and one panel quits wont I loose all panels?

I don't see any reason why you can't.

If you have the potential for shading, I'd consider 2 strings, if you don't I'd go with a single string. Losing a panel is supposedly pretty rare, I dont think I'd worry about it. If u did have one go out, youd be able to test for it pretty easily, take it out and operate on one less panel in series, no big deal.

Thanks to Mike 870 and FishHog for the feed back. I am all new to the off grid life and we are slowly getting it all ready to take the full off the grid leap next year. I am headed to Norway NY in February to try out the Pel Pro 160 I installed in October of last year. Cant wait to also try out my new bear paw snow shoes. Thanks again to all and this is an awesome support forum.
