Link works fine for me. Your place is amazing. It'll take me a while to get the whole way through, but as of page 38 I'm thoroughly jealous.

During my first winter it just had a flat deck that would eventually be my loft floor and some poly for a roof. I went through most of the winter with a blanket and some plastic for a door. I had oil lamps for light, wood cookstove for heat and hauled water.
Being close to the arctic and only having 3 hours of lights living like that is not for the timid.
Little by little I will get there. I live in it and have no bills. Well I do have a cell phone and Sat TV. other than that I own my life.

Yea I think we have similar climate and ecosystems. It's been snowing here for three days now. About this time of the year I have had enough of the snow and cold. It has been a cold winter for us we burned up a lot of wood this year just trying to stay warm.

Your building skills and accomplishments are amazing.
Oh, there's a picture of you with a knife on top of a grouse (the pic said quail). Are grouse really that stupid over there..?

How do you find log cabin for heating in the winter?
I think it's generally agreed that stick frame with insulation is faster to heat, but also cools down faster due to low thermal mass, while the logs are the opposite - takes longer to heat, but stay warm longer...
Some people argue log construction may not be suitable for occasional use building. Say you come in the middle of the cold winter and it takes long time to warm it up...
Just looking for an opinion
