how do you store linnens at your cabins. We would be there once or twice per month and want to keep everything stripped. Don't want crawly critters making homes in the beds. Looked at plastic storage containers to go under the bed but were around 20 bucks and took up more room than linens.

that's what we use. except we don't strip the bed all the time. never had any critters inside in the 12 years we've had the cabin up. the old RV was another matter though. I guess I did do a good job on sealing the cabin. for space saving there are those plastic bags you use a vacuum with to suck out the air and compact the package.

I think you can get a small bag of cedar chips and put it in the box or whatever you're using to store them in and that should help

I second the cedar chips idea. That's what we used to do when we just used our place as a cabin.

We strip our bed and hang the comfortor over a clothesline we have in the loft. The pillows and other bedding we keep in old trunks we have accumulated over the years. The trunks are cedar lined and have latches to keep them closed. They are garage sale specials!

We normally don't strip the beds unless we are bringing the linens home with us to wash. For storage we just use a stand up pantry cabinet out of a house. Stands about 8' tall and 2' wide. It doubles as a dresser in one of the bedrooms as well. The other bedroom we have a cheap K-mart special of a dresser. To keep the clothes fresh smelling we poke some holes in a zip lock baggie and put those downy washer beads in it. It will make everything smell like it just came out of the wash. The good thing about our cabin is that we really do not have mice but we do have shrews, the only time I have seen traces of them in the cabin is in the winter and it is usually one or two. Once they are "gone" all is good for the winter. Shrews eat mice and insects so not a bad trade off. We also use a fogger in the spring when we open the cabin for the summer. This gets rid of any spiders and any other insects that have come out of their winter sleep. Then maybe sometime later in the summer if needed.

lol that's funny cabin

I think you can get a small bag of cedar chips from Walmart. they are in the pet section. you don't need the big huge bag just a small one like for hamsters.
moth balls in a sock will help too.

I have found that also throwing granuels around the outside of the building helps to keep spiders and other insects out. I do this in the spring and in the late summer.
either water it or Wait just before rain because it has to be wet to work

We don't strip the bed either. I do lay an extra sheet over the quilt and pillows. We left it that way over the winter. I built the bed platform and it has room for three of the roll-able totes underneath. We store many things in them, an extra set of bed linens is part of that.

I put all the linens in zippered plastic bags.... then in storage containers under the bed.

After burglars used our storage containers to pack out our possessions, I installed storage cabinets. They seal up tight.

We use a huge aluminum trunk for all the bedding and a metal garbage can for pillows. I add fabric softener sheets inside to keep everything smelling fresh.

We made a bed out of a piece of plywood the legs are pipe. The bed is stripped and the mattress is covered in Bounce fabric sheets and covered in visquine at the end of the season. The mice have never touched the bed.

Since we read each night in bed and our headlamps are the only source of light I added a mosquito net to our bed.
