Fortunately we don't have many neighbors!

whee doggy are u lucky.enjoy.thats the main thing.and i sure know how u feel gal.for so long i had no inside kitchen.weather at our woods in winter is brutal.went out to the summer kitchen...in minus below.cant wash anything .water freezes in the air.so then i finally got me a little kitchen.not much compared to all the beautiful kitchens on this group but i sure am grateful for it.i know what u mean ..any cabin will do.we camped out and went to a motel eventually while we got the cabin up.we paid off the land and one day we realized it was competely ours.then we built.it took ten years.hugs cabi.

Cabingal: Ar is afraid we'll have the water freezing too. The pipe comes out the side of the hill.

The outdoor kitchen in below zero temps, yikes!! That would be hard to live with. Then again, it seems as though us crazy cabin dwellers will do just about anything we have to do in order to be in our cabin

I don't mind a small kitchen. Mine will probably be a small corner in a small room shared with the living room!

Hey lynn so exciting!

I was told any struture without permenent foundation could not be taxed. im sure thats different if you live in it but there is a man not far from me that put pole barn on 5 acres and lives in it. has compost potty..rainwater system..everything is off grid.
Solar fence too. could this help? Step in posts and high tensil strung? Cheaper and easier maybe?
Years ago did this for horses worked just fine.

So very excited for you!
Yes we are all cabin crazies..lol

Ps even in michigan i collect rainwater/snow off roof.
Bring can inside when full. its heavy to drag in but its wonderfully soft water.

I thought that about the foundation too Grandma, but I do know that whatever you build, if it's more than 150 sq. ft. you need a permit and so the fun begins.

We use rain barrels here at home and will use them at the cabin too. Melted snow sounds great.

this is what i plan before we build the bigger house and have the well inside the house.we want a sauna.i plan on getting snow to melt inside on top of the wood stove.and having a bath tub inside the sauna.theres not enough rain at our woods to collect much.pumice and snow.ice and sun.

I found something you would probably really like. If our weather was favorable I would love it.

Neb, Borrego suggested building multiple small cabins for different uses. The tent life family lives in a warmer climate than I do!
